B'Elanna question

Well people should be happy to be half breeds.

As for Belanna's hair, it should have been longer. Why do all the assertive women have to look butch on Star Trek, which means short hair, buzzcut, bob or in the case of Seven up.

Practicality. They are serving officers after all.

I'm sure they would have hair gel or hair spray in the twenty fourth century.

Might I add, Janeway's hair got in her face numerous times and her hair was short.

More like it is perpetuating the stereotype that tough women need to be butch and act like a women who wants a set of balls.

Sevens hair bugged me in it's logic. She had it tucked away at all times. Why not just get rid of it? Appearance can't be that important to her.

I agree with the fact that she just struggled alot.

Or, I could throw in the token behind-the-scenes practicality excuse: in the show, it needed to be obvious that B'elanna was indeed half klingon.

or... maybe klingon hair only grows in one direction. :-P

I agree with all those... Klingon hair probably does only grow in one direction. If you put 'klingon' into google images, all the hairstyles are exactly the same. :klingon: :klingon::cardie: :klingon: :klingon: <middle is B'elanna

i've noticed this happens with people who are of a mixed race background as well. they always seem to feel very insecure and out of place and have no heritage to cling to.

I've known a number of biracial individuals, and not a one of them as ever struck me as insecure, out of place, or lacking in a sense of heritage. The biracial people I've known have always been secure, self-confident, intelligent, supremely competent, and generally neat people who are happy claim both sides of their heritage. (And the ones who were female were pretty hot, too. ;) )

Well now I feel better. I volunteer as a big sister and my little is bi-racial. I'd rather she live in Sci's world than the world of Vulcan Guy. :p

Wasn't Alexander one quarter human? Not really relevant I know but it just popped into my head.

Thankee. Of course, there's simply no logical accounting for some of the things he's said...

The hair is only part of it. Why did 7 keep the big boobs? Not to mention the high heels? A lot of 7's look makes no sense if you think about too much.

All Klingons on the shows have to wear their hair off their foreheads so the viewers can see the identifying ridges. It wasn't a prerogative of the character...
