Being sick sucks!

So.. hooray for my crappy weekend.

Thursday evening i had a scratchy throat but didn't think much of it until it hot bad overnight and i couldn't go to work since i'd have been useless.. i barely could concentrate enough to drive so doing complicated brain work all day was out of the question.

I was battling all Friday with my throat.. one hour it would be ok and the next would worsen. Could sleep barely Friday night and went to the emergeny service Saturday morning.

Turns out i have infected tonsils the size of golf balls.. hurts like hell when i swallow and my mouth suddenly started to overproduce salive so i have been spitting the excess in a bucket so i don't have to swallow.
On top of that my right ear started to go along and get infected too.. so i barely hear anything from the right and get occasional sharp pain from it.

The doc gave me antibiotics and told me if it got worse i should go to the hospital immediately but if not should definitely go see him Sunday morning.

So awesome.. not only gave i a bad impression at work in a department where i'm on loan for two weeks by calling in sick Friday (i know what everybody thinks when someone is calling in sick Friday), i have also let down close friends because this weekend they move into a new appartment and sorely needed my help, car and tools i have.

It is slightly better than at noon where i thought i'd not make through it but i hope i'll either get sent to the hospital to remove the tonsils by the doc tommorrow or i get well enough to go to work Sunday evening. Everything else will smell like i'm ditching work..

Make sure to get a sick note from your doctor so the people at work don't give you a hard time.

Was at the emergency doc again today for a follow up check.. it is better than yesterday (who would have guessed that heavy antibiotics help )

I'll go to my doc tommorrow to get a sick note for the next few days.

However he advised me to come to him in about 3-4 weeks when everything is fully healed up again to see if the tonsils need to be taken out.. which would be awesome as it would fall right into the christmas season. I can think of better things to do than laying in hospital during this time.

If i need surgery i'll probably delay it to January.

So sorry you were sick but am glad you're feeling so much better. I had that same problem as a child-I always got sick and I had swollen tonsils as well..I had to have them taken out and have barely been sick since then. Ok, had a cold and maybe the flu..but otherwise fairly healthy.

I sympathize. I've had the flu for the past three days, and for the first two I was unable to get out of bed. Today, I could get up, but all I could do all day was move back and forth from my bed to my recliner.

I haven't eaten in three days either. Haven't been able to keep anything down except water, and that's been iffy.

Best thing.. went today to the ear doctor to see about my middle ear infection and he cleaned it out and noticed mycosis (a "fungus" type infection).

Ah they joys of being sick and finding something new each day

Got some special ointment pushed into my ear by him and have to go see him this Saturday for a follow up check.

Right now i barely hear something on the right and i have this pressure inside my ear and constant ringing in the right ear. It drives me mad sometimes. At least the pain is gone.

Joy joy.. at least i'm off work this week and can hang out here more often.
