I'll start one tonight.

1-5, rank the Trek series in order of your preference. Mine are:

1. TNG
2. TOS
3. ENT
4. VOY
5. DS9

First of all, I want you to know that your particular order is probably pretty rare. Few people would put TNG at 1 and DS9 at 5 in the same list. At least this is my guess. Anyhow, these lists are hard for me because what I personally prefer is not necessarily the same as what I think is the best (DS9 is probably a better show than TNG but I have fond TNG memories from youth that make it my favorite).

So... Preference:

1. TNG
2. DS9
3. VOY
4. ENT
5. TOS

Quality:

1. DS9
2. TNG
3. TOS
4. VOY
5. ENT

Although I should say that I think ENT's third season is one of the finest in all of Trek.

1. DS9
2. TOS
3. TNG
------
4. VOY
5. ENT

The line separates shows that I will ever watch again from shows that I won't.

I think your guess is right. Loved the optimisim, playfullness and round, well-developed characters of TNG. DS9 was just too... dirty for me. It was too dark. Too many Ferangi. They just make me think "Dirty and yucky". It's like, if everyone on Earth died except for the 10,000 most hardcore, capitalist Republicans in the USA, and these are they're decendants 300 years later. So I was always turned off by DS9. TOS is just TOS. The big three are so great together, and the stories are all fresh and new. New ideas. Some of them worked splendidly (CotEoF), and some failed miserably (Spock's Brain). But it was fresh. VOY was just kinda what it was. It was like a James Taylor cover version of a U2 album.

Although I should say that I think ENT's third season is one of the finest in all of Trek.

See? That was my least favorite ENT season. I'm actually a big fan of S2. The last half of season two only had two clunkers, and was otherwise on the level of TNG seasons 3-5.

Ah, weird. I pretty much echo your thoughts exactly.

1) I also have fond memories of TNG from my youth, and it's those memories that will always help secure it my No. 1 spot.

2) Even though TNG is my preference, DS9 was certainly the best in terms of quality. A close second on my list.

3) ENT's third season is, indeed, one of Trek's all-time great seasons -- even if the T'Pol druggie storyline, the forced Reed/Hayes conflict, and some of the mediocre standalones hurt it in retrospect.

So, anyway, my list...

1. TNG
2. DS9
3. VOY
4. ENT
5. TOS (Virtually in a tie with ENT, but S3 gives it the slightest of edges)

1. TOS
2. TNG / DS9 (tie)
3. ENT S4

4. ENT S1-3
5. VOY

[][][] - These represent distance in light years.

1)DS9
2)TNG
3)TOS/Voy
4)ENT Season 4
5)ENT Seasons 1-2

Haven't seen ENT Season 3

I consider 1-4 to be pretty close in quality, with the first 2 season of ENT quite a way below.

DS9
TNG
TOS

To be fair, I haven't watched enough episodes of VOY and ENT to render an opinion. Sometimes reading these boards doesn't give me much incentive to watch more.

Pretty much the same for me.
