Beavis and Butthead / Music Videos returning to MtV

I was really surprised how well it picked up where they left off. If it wasn't for the video quality shifting between the main story and the video riffing segments and the more contemporary pop culture references I don't know that I could tell the difference. I hope Tom Wilson is waiting in the wings. I do kind of wish they had aged them into young adult losers.

I was quite impressed at how well they kept the show true to its roots, lack of good music videos aside (what was that zombie one with the kid all about??). The reality shows they added to make up for this worked just fine; I'm actually surprised MTV would let B&B make fun of their shows.

The only thing I thought was a LITTLE off was that B&B seemed to actually have a clue every now and again rather than being completely clueless participants. Then again, it's been years since I've watched the original so maybe it's always been this way.

When the show first started, they were both smarter and more deliberately malevolent rather than utterly clueless participants. This may be a combo of both characterizations.

i thought last night's episode was pretty good. they picked up right where they left off quite well, but as someone previously said, some of the reused animation didn't mesh well with the new.

That was surreal. Nothing has changed! Mind you that is a good thing, I really enjoyed the episode. Hard to believe the last time I watched a new episode was when I was sixteen (I'm not 30).

I just caught it online, I thought it was great. I forgot how much I liked these guys. It was interesting to see the teachers, Stewart and the town all there. King of the Hill has been off the air for a few years now, so it's good to see Mike Judge doing his thing again. I missed Beavis and Butthead, but I still felt like King of the Hill ended a little early. Anyway, I thought it was funny and can't wait for next week.

Damn.. like time travel it took me back to an age where i was a teenager and saw them on Mtv at a time where they predominantly aired music videos (god i'm old).

As others have said.. as if they never went away. Damn that was silly, immature, idiotic and brilliant! The only thing better is to be stone cold drunk/high and watch it then.. there's nothing better.

Best part is them MSTK'ing music videos and shows.. it had me in stitches when they took a shot at Jersey Shore (admittedly an easy target but still).

This is perfect for just turning off the brain and reverting to the dumb teenager days and just enjoy. :techman:

I saw the episode at the NYCC with Mike Judge introducing. The version we saw was different. The first two scenes weren't complete yet and it had B and B commenting hysterically on 16 and Pregnant and some other show with a family moving into a big house. Hopefully those will be in later episodes.

That said, the episode was a blast. The Twilight spoof was funny and this era of television is perfect for B and B to mock.

Thought it was awesome... although a little bummed it wasn't in widescreen. I know they're probably trying to go for the "old school" look, but it was still kind of annoying.

Very happy to see this back. I love the Twilight stuff and Butthead making fun of Beavis for crying. Still as stupid as ever and it was nice they hadn't cleaned up the animation. Great way to just not think for 30 minutes.

Oh my god, it's still awesome!
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

"I wish there was some way to set books on fire while I'm reading them".

Hopefully it'll make some of the actual viewers of MTV shows that B&B are lampooning think to themselves "Why the hell am I watching this garbage on MTV?"

I know some people who watch just for the train wreck element, but at some point you stop looking at a train wreck and move on.

Nah. If anything these same people will think Beavis & Butt-Head is lowbrow trash while not recognizing that the reality shit is worse in every possible way. :guffaw:

Is it fair to call Futurama a 90's show? It started in 1999 and the vast majority of it's run was in the 00's decade.

Just watched the second new episode tonight. Thought it was pretty good, disappointed though that they only riffed on one music video. With the other segments being devoted to MTV reality shows.

Last weeks episode was definitely better, but this one was still pretty funny.

Nice to see they've upped their IQ just enough that they can websurf without Stewart's help.
