Beach Volleyball

I hate playing volleyball. I'm absolutely terrible. My sister played volleyball for a little while and I was bored to death watching. I've somehow developed an interest in beach volleyball thanks to the Olympics. At first I thought it was just because of the skimpy outfits and the showing nipples of Walsh and May-Treanor... but I got into the men's game too! I kind of want to learn to play now. Go figure.

I've always loved playing beach volleyball even though I don't get to do it very often. It's not surprise that my favorite event this year has been beach volleyball, both the men's and women's.

it's a lot of fun. I had a team in Newport, RI a couple years ago in an AVP league, and we won the league for the season. Although, to be fair, I was playing in the B league (4 players), and not the much more competitive A league.

I also do an indoor league during the winters, and have gotten either 1st or 2nd for the past 5 years. DIving for the ball on a gym floor is a lot less fun than sand, but you get 6 players max instead of 4, and there aren't unpredictable winds messing with things...

I played volleyball in college... though it was on a intramural team and not the real school team. It was enjoyable nonetheless.

The beach volleyball at the olympics was one of my favorite events to watch. Both of the American gold medal teams were amazing!

Funny, I began watching Women's Beach Volleyball during the 2000 olympics--the outfits and flat tummies caught my eye at first--but now I try and make a point to keep on top of both the men's and women's event, both in Beijing and Athens.

I don't really know why I enjoy it so much, and I wonder if I would be as interested if there were a whole host of players like in court volleyball (which I find too crowded to enjoy watching).
