BBC Remaking Day of the Triffids

Ok Wamdue, we'll perform a test. I'll take the anti Triffid gun, you take a bottle of Pantene Pro V and we'll see who survives... :)

Apart from Triffids, I'd love to see a remake of Tripods.
I was almost going to say the same. Great show. :techman:

Yep!

I watched it as a kid, and found it genuinely exciting and not a little scary at times. Would love to see how it could be adapted with modern sensibilities; I'm guessing it could be quite strong.
I feel like I'm missing out, I've never seen Triffids or Tripods, other than clips in those "classic British Sci-fi" shows and things like that.

Hmm, looks like Tripods is about to be released on DVD.

I have some 16 or more Tripods episodes I downloaded from Usenet MANY years ago. They're VCD or SVCD, so not quite DVD quality...but they'll do until then. :)

Both of them, I think, had the late Sunday afternoon "kids slot". Being a kid at the time, I watched them.

I hope someone remakes Wyndham's other stories for film or TV -- "The Chrysalids" (perhaps his best story), "The Kraken Wakes" (but come up with a better ending), or "The Midwich Cuckoos" (though the first film is great, the sequel is average, and the remake is pants).

A remake of "Tripods" by John Christopher would be great -- just damn well finish the story this time.

The trouble with tripods is that even as a kid into sci-fi I found the first series quite boring. When they got into the Tripod city I recall it getting more interesting but then it got axed.

I haven't seen any, but anyone seen any triffid pics anywhere?

Great Chicken Mambo, is Chrsyalids the one with the mutants? Just wondering as I can’t be bothered to go find my copy but I would love to see a televised version of that.
As for Traffics (getting more on point) I have read the book but my main version is not the television one but a CD I was given, listened to at the same time as Autumn http://darkerprojects.com/autumn.php it is hard not see where the zombie similarities come into play.
Triffids always stood out to me though for the realistic nature it took in dealing with survival and seemed to downplay the zombie/triffids by about the second half. The part where they decide to leave the unsighted behind for fear of the slowing them down and being too much of a hindrance and also where they discuss breading and how people will have to take many “partners” in order to ensure the future was and still is the kind of stuff I haven’t seen in any post apocalyptic tale.
