BBC releases mini-ep/prequel on Aug 15

I think having an older Doctor would be distracting. People would spend the whole time talking about how cool that was, rather than the point of this prelude.

Yeah, I just think its a shame sometimes as things like this, and the emergency hologram etc, would be great and convincing ways to get old Docs a mention without having to explain why they're now older...and usually fatter!

*Amy walks into the Tardis"

...And I bet you're fussing and moaning now, typical. But hold on, and just listen a bit more. The TARDIS can never return for me. Emergency Programme One means I'm facing an enemy that should never get their hands on this machine. So this is what you should do: let the TARDIS die.

Amy- What?

*Amy looks at the Tardis monitor"

Is this working? Martha, before I change, here’s a list of instructions for when I’m human. One: Don’t let me hurt anyone. We can’t have that, but you know what humans are like. Two: don’t worry about the TARDIS. I’ll put it on emergency powers so they can’t detect it. Just let it hide away. Four… no, wait a minute, three: no getting involved in big historical events. Four: you. Don’t let me abandon you. And five…

Amy- Doctor what the hell is going on?!

It sets the tone. The Doctor left excited and cheerful. There's a decent idea of where he's going and what he has to do. Between then and the episode's premier, we find out things are so jaunty as we believed. In other words, it reminds us the Doctor's darkest days are ahead.

But I only watch Doctor Who while mildly drunk, so I'm convinced that the Doctor's greatest failure we were told to expect was that he let the baby slip away, and it can't possibly be anything that's coming in a future episode.
