Aka MI-5 to you American fans.

Brilliant news but not a surprise since the 9th series been getting more than 6 million viewers.

Ian Whiley of the Daily Express has confirmed on twitter that Spooks series 10 has been confirmed...

"Spooks to be commissioned for 10th series, that's the word from BBC boss Ben Stephenson".

I hope the BBC goes with my idea for a 5 part TW:COE style season to wrap up the show but most likely when BBC officially announce it, they will go with a 6-8 episode run in October/November 2011.

Members of the crew hinted at this several days earlier

:techman: Nice on BBC.

I'm always glad to see more SPOOKS, although I'm definitely a bit behind. The last series I saw was series six (which was mostly great). Hopefully I can catch up with series seven on DVD over the Christmas break.

IMO, the show was still going strong through most of the eighth season (haven't seen the last two episodes of that season or the ninth season yet).

At the rate they're going, are they going to de-canonize Spooks: Code 9?

I'm about 3 episodes behind with this series. I'm really not enthusiastic about it any more, but if next series is the last I will definitely tune in, not sure I will otherwise though.

I'm glad they are giving it one season to sort of finish things off nicely, but I'll be damn how about they get a realistic schedule for us Americans! I'm still waiting to see Series 8 and had to wait almost 2 years for 7. The world may end before I get to see 10! If 10 will be the last season, I wish they would make a big event out of it and show blocks of eps in BBCA or something. Relatively uncut and with less commercials I hope, you know, BBCA actually acting like a British channel as it should.

Fantastic news! Series 9 has been brilliant so far so I'm really glad one of my favourite series will be back :techman:

Season 9 has not really grabbed me, I find the whole Lucas plot a little soap story-ish. I hope we see more threat from China in whatever 10th season we get since every other half threating nation has been done by this show in many ways. If Spooks Code 9 was succesful they could of finished the show off with the dirty bomb that kicked off the spinoff but hopefully we can all forget the awful spinoff and Spooks can go out differently.

I would love a MI-6 spinoff in the future.

Ah I've enjoyed the Lucas stuff, and China do seem to be the enemy these days, I suspect we will see more of them in series 10.

I do suspect that series 10 will neccesitate
another new section chief however!

Can't see the point of an MI6 show; firstly it'd be a bit Bond, secondly it would neccesitate a lot more location filming since MI6 aren't technically supposed to operate in the UK (in the same way MI5 aren't supposed to operate aboard, although the lines are blurry.)

The Lucas stuff has come to ahead in the latest episode, but before that it could get annoying.

If the show does end in it's 10th season it will be Britain's longest running comedy at 27 episodes.

Excellent news. I've never really hated any season of Spooks, but I have really especially enjoyed this season along with the past two.

There were suggestions around a year or so ago I think that this might be the last regardless of how it was received by the viewers because the BBC were going to be focusing more on new dramas. I'm glad it isn't the case with Spooks.

No, he said that 3 90 minute episodes is longer than a (British usage) series of a sitcom. As in 90x3 is longer than 30x6. There's plenty of sitcoms that run for years, Last of the Summer Wine has 295 episodes. My Family has run for 110 episodes, Two Pints 74 episodes, Only Fools And Horses 71 episodes and has a spin off Green Green Grass that has 32 episodes. Red Dwarf 55 episodes (possibly more on the way). Men Behaving Badly 42 episodes.

I'm probably forgetting some but they're just ones off the top of my head.

Still most of them if they were ever any good started to get shit, so maybe it'd be better if they were shorter.
