BBC Cuts

once again 23skidoo proves he has no clue about the BBC.

and, seriously, if you're not British, stop talking about how you feel about the BBC because it means precisely squat. i know everyone's entitled to an opinion, free speech, blah, blah, blah, but every time you chip in your tuppence on the subject of the BBC and its shows, like Who and Merlin, you just make yourself look a complete pudding.

that's not a flame, it's an observation. your rants about Who's scheduling were so far off the mark as to be in the pint of some bloke at the back of the pub and your ideas about how the beeb needs to push Merlin in America to make a movie work were even more ludicrous. please, just stop.

^They're not only limited by bandwidth on Freeview, but also on satellite. They have to use Astra 2D which has limited space and that's why so many channels (ITV2-4, Channel 5, E4 etc) are launching encrypted on Sky. They also have to have the Trust agreeing to it. BBC HD was limited to 9 hours a day because that was the limit the Trust put on it.

They are doing some rejigging of satellite services as part of DQF. By the end of 2012, HD versions of BBC One Wales, BBC One Scotland and BBC One Northern Ireland will have launched on all platforms, but Red Button video streams will be cut down to a bare minimum, and two BBC One English Regions will be removed from satellite (thought to be Oxford and either Cambridge or Norwich).
