Yeah, the credits say that it's inspired by characters created by Terry Pratchett or something along those lines, I don't remember the exact wording.

It's kind of an awkward situation. I could see fans of the books being extremely irritated, but had they not given this credit, wouldn't the same people be saying the show "stole ideas"?

I do vaguely recall promotional material for the show slowly devolving from "Based on the books by Terry Pratchett" to "Inspired by the books by Terry Pratchett."
