Battlestar Galactica getting rebooted (again) for NBS's streaming service

Is anyone really clamoring for a nunuBSG? I mean if they made it and it looked good I'd watch it. But then if they made something else and it looked good I'd watch that too.

I think there are still some movies or some such of nuBSG that I still haven't watched. That ending was so terrible it killed the show for me.

Compared with Lost that I have watched three times now.

I don't know if you have lots of people wanting a new version of the show but I do think more people are wanting this than some of the other stuff in recent years that somehow ended up with a reboot. I also think their was a little more excitement in this case because it was being done by the guy behind "Mr Robot." Esmail was one of the biggest sales point for such a show,

Eh, if there is one SciFi series I can live without ever seeing anything related to it ever again, then it's BSG, especially NuBSG (always hated that show with a passion for many, many reasons).

If there has to be a reboot of a SciFi franchise, then why not Babylon 5 instead? Heck, I'd even rather see a reboot of Lexx rather than additional BSG stuff.
Babylon 5 reboot is unfortunately on the same sad pathway as were the attempts to spin-off shows, so far...

Not surprised it got canned. Not much of a demand for it

Why so?

I don't want to go into an entire rant.
Let's just say I don't like the tone, I don't like the philosophy, I don't like the production design and I hate every single character. I don't care what the show thinks it has to say, I disagree with everything they do, and if anybody tries to make me watch it...I have a machete.

But other than that, why not watch?

Ha! ;-)
As I said...there's a machete involved. And it's possessed by an angry spirit and it will spring to life if any whiff of NuBSG gets too close to my location.
And I can't afford to keep moving to new cities under assumed names.

It still blows me away that THIS was almost the entire series ending for nuBSG.

And don't even try to tell me that this wouldn't be in their wheelhouse. With the general tone of that series, it would be an absolutely expected ending.

I wonder. They did have the rest of the location footage for the next episode in the can. Things would've had to have gone really wildly bad for the show to be cancelled (it's not like they needed the studio space, nothing else was filming, either). Maybe the location scenes would've made it to the DVD, or they would've completed "Sometimes a Great Notion" as a "and the story continues..." epilogue. There'd definitely be rumors and leaks even if it was a dead stop, simply from episodes being written and outlined, and scenes having been filmed.

I'd probably check out a new BSG series, either another complete reboot or something in the RDM version's timeline, but it's not something I really want.

I never was the biggest fan of nuBSG, but I stood up and was counted when Callum Keith Rennie turned up on Star Trek: Discovery and absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Captain Rayner. What a guy.

He’s probably my favorite all-time DSC character. It’s a shame we only got to see him for one season. I suppose there is hope of seeing him again in the new SFA series. Fingers crossed…

I'm all for quality shows, and IF they can make a new version of BSG that is good, I'm there for it.
Thing is, everything these days is a reboot or a show set in an established universe. Star Wars, MCU, Star Trek. I heard there's a new Dr Who spin off in the makes?
Adaptations of games, novels. And the shit thing is, some of the original shows that sound interesting ( I forgot the name but it's set in an alternate 90's with a mission to Mars or something ) are not available here in the Netherlands unless I subscribe to yet another new streaming service.

So yeah.... I'd rather see a whole new original space-set scifi show.

I mean, no, but I wasn't looking for nuBSG, either. Then RDM knocked it out of the park with the miniseries, I was hooked, and I enjoyed the ride immensely, warts and all.
I remember the fans of the original series were rabid, with threats to Moore and all.

And some actors from the original series were quite vocal in their protests... let's see if I can find the link...

Dirk Benedict wrote this about the character of Starbuck in the NuBSG, now played by a woman:

Yeah that guy was ridiculously defensive about his character being rebooted into a woman. He made several very silly statements like that.

Of all the many, many, many things I didn't like about NuBSG, having more female characters is not one of them.

And why is he even whining about there supposedly not being any smoking? NuBSG had, unfortunately, heaps of smoking depicted on-screen (that's one of the things I didn't like about it)

I doubt he watched a single minute of nuBSG. He was probably just talking about things that others had reported.

Although after all these years I honestly don't remember if there was smoking in the miniseries.

Starbucks had a cigar at the pyramid game when she punched out the superior arsehole.

The character’s smoking was dropped over time the request of Sackhoff who also quit the habit
