I put a lot of hours into BF2 when it first came out, but later grew tired of it for various reasons. I thought I was done with BF2 for good, but now I think I might have to give it another try.

The patch is probably so big because the two booster packs and all the extra maps are included.

I'm really wanting to give this patch a try, but my power supply stopped working on Sunday and I am waiting for my replacement to get here.

Does this patch work standalone, or do you have to download ten billion 2GB patches before utilizing the 1.50?

You have to get the 1.41 patch, which is cumaltive at least.

I'm updating Company of Heroes and holy fuck, what a pain.

^My copy of Company of Heroes is through Steam, so no problems there :)

Oh, while this 2GB patch did take me 15 minutes to download, after double clicking, it literally took 3 hours for it to go to the Vista 'do you really want to run this' screen. I don't know WTF that was about... maybe Vista or Avast were pondering the whole 2GB as some sort of Windows super-virus!

The Steam version is stupid though. You have to redownload the entire game every time it updates. :(

The patch took me 5 hours to get. And updating SF and 1.41 took ages... guh.

Hrm, anyone know how to actually access the booster packs? The server browser only lists vanilla BF2 games...

^^^ If there are any servers running, all maps should be available in the non-modded multiplayer server list. They aren't like the early Special Forces mod which required its own separate parameter string to load.

Yeah, finally saw a new map in the rotation. It's too bad they didn't make SF free - no one is playing that anymore.

I'm really surprised EA didn't throw up Battlefield 2 up on Steam and other DD platforms when this patch came out, with a low price point (maybe $10-15) they could of made a good amount of money.

EA's in that awkward position where they need to support their own store as well. They just started putting some new stuff on Impulse - stuff that's not available on Steam. It's strange.

For all those wondering, I was able to install 1.5 over an earlier beta of 1.5 (not 1.4) last night - something that many have said can not be done - and it worked fine. Played Operation Blue Pearl for the first time and it was "eh". Too many no-vehicle map servers out there now. Strike at Karkand is still my favorite map, with Sharqi Peninsula and Gulf of Oman in close second.
