''Batmobile Armor'' VOYAGER!

You know, I was not a fan of this armor. I really felt it was an easy out for explaining how they got through all the Borg firepower. It always felt like backpedaling in the context or armor technology. I mean, here you have an advanced species that moved from armored cars to tanks to shields, and now we're going back to armored car?

Nope, never liked it.

It was cool to see. Kind of silly from a Trek tech standpoint. But it was neat.

It sounded cool...say it with me...ablative armor. Sounded cool but it was too convenient. I wish Voyager would have showed more battle scares as the series progressed.

I agree.
Knowing they had used a similar affect in the Batman movies, it came off cheesy seeing it in Trek. It's the biggest cringe worthy moment in the entire series for me.

The most cringe worthy spot for me was the line repeated by Janeway...

"Just because we're from two different worlds doesn't mean we can't be friends."

*hurl*

But this Batmobile moment is up there... right after Threshold Babies and right before Pon Far B'elanna. So, it's number three.

The clamshell doors generated over the shuttle runway at the back is a neat TOS tribute I've never noticed before.

I don't know. With the way all these blogs have shown just how much the art department breathed Trek, and just how many tributes and continuity references were built into the smallest details of models, I wouldn't assume any potential reference was unintentional. I bet it at least came to mind when it was modeled, even if the original concept was created independently.

It's possable.
