The winners of the previous rounds:

1. Goldeneye
2. Star Trek: First Contact
3. The World Is Not Enough
4. Star Trek: Nemesis

After the last batch of movies, all three film franchises were rebooted to critical and popular acclaim. Which reboot do you think was the best?

All three are great movies but it was so hard to choose but I went with Star Trek. Paramount took a real chance in rebooting a franchise like Star Trek with all it's rabid fans. I don't think that the Bond and Batman reboots were as daring. The public was more apt to go with Bond and Batman reboots than they were with Star Trek.

Batman Begins and Casino Royale are two excellent movies that wonderfully rebooted their respective franchises from some truly horrendous depths.

Star Trek XI is shit.

So, I had to flip a coin again to decide between the top two contenders.

Batman Begins wins.

This is a tough one, because I really like all three. I'd discount Casino Royale first, if only for the pacing issues, which leaves a toss up between Batman and Trek.

Batman Begins is an awesome film, very well made (and before Nolan started making his films slightly flabby) and it is a better film than Trek. But damn it Trek 09's just such good fun.

This is the kind of dilema Kirk could use to short circuit a computer God!

Sod it, Trek!

Damn that's tought, but I had the best experience and the most excitement watching Star Trek, so I voted for that.

Possibly the hardest one to choose from so far, but I didn't really have any hesitation in plumping for Begins. I'd put ST 2nd and CR 3rd.

All three are great films, but I had to give the nod to BB. It simply had the best acting and tightest script (with the fewest plot holes).

Agreed. For me the coin came down for Casino Royale, but I'd be happy either way.

I wouldn't wipe my ass with ST09.

Originally I was going to have Round 6 be the Camp Round* and Round 7 be the Classics Round** but I think it's meaningless to compare films that are decades apart when so far this competition has been about close proximity. The largest difference, so far, was in Round 1 and that was only six years: Batman (1989) and Goldeneye (1995). The entire scope of the competition has been 1989-2009.

As a result, I'm going to change the rounds a bit; to keep the movies competing against their peers. Round 6 will be The Dark Knight, Quantum of Solace and I'll run Star Trek (2009) again. It's the best I can do without ST XII. I can't think of another stand-in for ST XII and this keeps everything 2008-2009. Round 7 will be a competition between all the previous winners. That'll be the final round and, again, it keeps everything '90s and 2000s.

* Round 6 was going to be Batman (1966), Moonraker, and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Respectively: one is intentional camp, one can't make up its mind, and the other one actually has camping scenes.

** Round 7 was one I liked less the more I thought about it. Goldfinger, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and the The Dark Knight, in addition to being so far apart, don't seem like they were meant to be compared to each other at all.

EDIT: Screw it. Camp will be Round 8, Classics will be Round 9, and then I'll make it an even 10 with The Speculative Round between The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, and Star Trek XII.

Each new round will appear one week later, from here on out.

Master and Commander. I would've considered Galaxy Quest if Round 4 needed the stand-in.

Excluding Round 7, The Dark Knight is now the only film that'll run twice. Since The Classics Round will be a completely different nature from the first six, I'll let it stand.

Problem solved!
