Ok, just saw the trailers for both Wonder Woman and Justice Legaue, so I bit the bullet and ordered the Ultimate Edition. Figured that, if I'm gonna see this movie, might as well watch that version. :)

Are you in the United States? I think Redbox has to wait something like 45 days when a new DVD comes out...
Checked at the Grocery this morning. It wasn't a redbox - sorry. I asked one of the customer service people because she was loading it. The grocer bought their own cabinet that is unaffiliated and use it to replace their rental department.

There's one thing I still don't understand about this movie.

Why did Lex kill Mercy?

Unless it has something to do with that look he gave her when they were looking at the Kryptonite.
As in, "I don't know if she can really be trusted".

Mercy was his alibi. It's suspicious enough that he wasn't at the hearing but at least his trusted assistant was.

There was PLENTY wrong with those movies other than not being like Marvel... Especially Apocalypse which was pure crap.
There's plenty wrong with Age of Ultron, and people didn't rake it across the coals.

My point is the audience demanding humor and jokes in their films, and the audience not being receptive to films that include such content. You can't win for losing, it seems.

The last time I watched this film I finally focused on the fact that Lois was wearing her engagement ring at the end.

Yes, they did.

Perhaps somewhat less so, but they definitely did.

Also, Apocalypse and BvS came out within months of Deadpool and Civil War, whereas Age of Ultron came out in close proximity to Ant-man and Fantastic Four. It just didn't have the same competition as these two. And on top of that, it had more good will going into it to start, because the fact of the matter is that Fox and WB have been controversial for a long time.

Just picked up the Blu-ray, so looking forward to finally seeing the longer cut (new home cinema projector to break in).

I've posted numerous (some lengthy) posts about why I like the film, so I won't rehash it here. All I'll say at the moment is I both understand why Man of Steel and BvS don't appeal as broadly as the bulk of the Marvel films while, at the same time, I admire the willingness of Snyder to take a direction he must have known would not be universally appealing. I have some issues with the mechanics of the film's pacing and editing (which, I hope, the longer cut alleviates) but I find the non-Silver Age version of Superman (AKA, the non-Christopher Reeve version) intriguing. (Not that I dislike Reeve's Superman--I'm just interested in something different as well, similar to how I appreciate both the original TOS series/movies AND the new ones).
