In the youtube above, your fat friend told us that without warning Ben Affleck, the Academy Award/Golden Globe winning author of Good Will Hunting, presented an unwanted and unasked for FINISHED script for a solo Batman movie to DC that he was willing to star in (they didn't say that he wanted to direct his Batman project, but it seems like he'd want to direct the movie he wrote rather than letting some ###hole #### it up) if they had the idle curiosity to give a ####.

Ben Afflek had a personal and professional relationship with Robin Williams when he was alive.

If Robin Williams was still alive, dollars to donuts, Affleck would be giving Robin a call to ask him if he'd want to play the Riddler... Maybe?

Clock King?

Point is that I was sad (and annoyed) that Ben couldn't make that phone call to Robin.

Then it's only so long that anyone can maintain a conversation in batContext about a person coincidentally also named Robin before you start to wonder what that Robin would look like in (Burt Ward's) Robin wardrobe?

(Now I'm thinking of Cobie Smulders, Robin from How I met Your Mother in Burt Ward's tights.)

Movie wasn't great, but there seem to be a lot of folks putting a LOT of effort into trying to declare this the worst ever...

And they're all basically the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.

Well obviously I fucked up. :(

I'll just go fix that so that the next ten people in this thread don't feel the need to tell me how awesome I am not.

It's just big summer movies that are dull and plodding and almost entirely devoid of humor that I think they really have a problem with, and unfortunately those are all things that BvS suffers from.

Luckily it's a big spring movie as opposed to a big summer movie.

Dodged that bullet!

Geek/Nerds/Comic books fans whatever you want to call them are the worse fans just as much as they can be the best fans.

Most sites has been projecting $48 million at best but looks like $52 million might be it so am sure at this rate WB will take every $million they can get. Overseas though BvS is still going dam strong with the pot currently standing at $421 million (Monday will see it grow a fair bit I imagine). So overseas will be $550 at worst do you think? and the North America numbers will be $330-350 max ?

68% second weekend drop. Not great, but not 81%, either.

$683 million in ten days. DISASTER!!! ;)

Not trying to rain on your parade but everything there is still an estimate (they don't post weekend actuals until Monday.) Just trying to be fair as remember all last weekend they were saying (prior to the Monday actuals) that BvS brought in $170 million - but when the 'actuals' were posted - that was adjusted to $166 million.

Oh, and the (again projected 81% drop off was only if they included the pre release Thursday screenings; otherwise I believe it was 73%) Also, I'm not rooting for the film to do poorly (I do think it was mediocre; but FAR from the worst WB/DC - or Marvel/Fox were I too include some of their offerings in the mix - have done.)

You mentioned Ben Stiller.

Who might even be a good fit to play The Riddler.

Tom Hiddleston would be great (I know, universe crossing, but Affleck set precedent :-)). If he doesn't end up as Bond.
Or Tennant, but he seems more a TV star rather than big screen.

I always loved the idea of Robin Williams as Hugo Strange but sadly that can never happened. I think Jesse Eisenberg would of been better as The Riddler than Lex, which should of gone to an older actor like Bryan Cranston.

Someone on another board suggested James Spader as Lex, specifically naming his performance on "The Blacklist" as precedent to show that Spader is awesome in this kind of roles. And though I never thought of it myself, I have to agree, Spader is one of the best at this sort of thing. He certainly could play a Lex who feels himself superior to anyone else, yet is charming enough for people to like him, even when he's evil.

Plus, he's already kinda balding.

Not a disaster, but a monster-budget motion picture featuring two most popular super heroes on the planet and some of the most iconic fictional characters in history should in theory blow Marvel's B-list (seruously, fuck Hawkeye) out of the water. Insetad it's the other way around.

A movie featuring Batman and Superman should print money.

James Spader would work for sure, he could play any role even Wonder Woman :P

I have the perfect way to get Spader into the DCEU. James Spader could be the Brother Eye AI in Justice League, an AI created to watch over people (created by Batman in the comics, and in this potential story). Eexcept, instead of making OMAC robots when he turns evil he takes over Batman's "Amazo" Project (its professor Ivo's Amazo in the comics obviously, but Batman did Brother Eye, so you mix them together and drop the obscure mad scientist).

Brother Eye becomes Amazo, a robotic menace created by the paranoia/hubris of a Superhero. Amazo meets the Wonder Twins (Zan and Jayna) and their monkey Gleek, who join him because Batman killed their criminal parents during his big murder rampage in Batman v Superman. Amazo then creates Red Tornado as a minion, but Tornado rebels and joins the Justice League. The Wonder Twins & Gleek defect after learning that Amazo wants to destroy the whole world, not just the justice league. Together all of them manage to stop Amazo, but Gleek dies saving Aquaman, who had spent the whole movie not really liking the monkey.

I don't know why, but this story seems like the perfect superhero story to have James Spader
