I haven't read All Star Superman, did he make Superman dark and twisted there?
No, just weird.

It was during Final Crisis when Darkseid had captured Bats, he had him stuck in a virtual reality machine trying to clone his brain/body to make an army of perfect soldiers, but Bats perfect brain managed to pervert and destroy the entire thing. "The Lump" was the means of invading/converting his mind. So the entire flashback structure of the story was basically what Bats was experiencing in his mind as his memories were accessed.
It will likely be Dick Grayson since DC has already given his Nightwing name over to Chris Kent/Lor-Zod in Action Comics. I was also reading an interview with Grant Morrison about his upcoming Batman & Robin series. He was trying to not let it slip who is under the cowl, but he said something to the effect that "what we’ve got is a more light-hearted, more spontaneous Batman and a real bad-ass, violent Robin." What that says to me is that Dick is going to be Batman and Damien will be Robin, putting Tim Drake into the Red Robin cowl. Dick was always known for being the light-hearted one to Wayne's more determined persona, only now he is going to be the elder partner in the equation.
I don't want Batman "light-hearted". I want him dark and moody and driven. Fuck light-hearted.
Ah Damien Wayne. The worst addition to a comic book franchise since Ben Reilly. I don't want that fucking idiot writing my boy Nightwing. Morrison can write many things, but never anything light-hearted. He doesn't know the meaning of the word. I trust Frank Miller to write a Dick Grayson story before I do Morrison. And Frank Miller has proven many times over that he HATES Dick Grayson like dogs hate cats. Morrison will make him twisted and wierd and fucked up like he does to every established character he writes. Because those are the only characters he understands or relates to. And what makes Dick a cool character will be destroyed in the process. I've seen this tragety before. It was called Doom Patrol and New X-Men.
It's like he's tired of being worshiped and adored by the Fanboy lemmings who make up his fanbase and wants to see how far he can go before they turn on him and curse his name. Either that, or he's back on heroin. My guess? It's a little bit of both.

If just that little bit got you going, there's more. Back in Batman #666 there was something of a flash-forward of Damien also wearing the cowl and being called out by Tim for getting a friend of their's killed. Combine that with Morrison's statement that after his Batman & Robin chapter he is writing, he still has to show Bruce's return since FC showed he was still out there somewhere.
Many fans are putting that together to read that Damien will wind up getting Dick killed (the odds are favoring B&R #12 currently), putting the cowl up for grabs once again just in time for Bruce to return from wherever he is now to reclaim it. So, basically, Morrison's whole storyline has been a big build-up to killing Dick Grayson. A character Didio doesn't like because his age makes Bruce Wayne "too old".
Now that last paragraph is all rumor. But it fits in with what has been said and seen as well as known feelings of DC's EIC. Personally, I think the idea stinks. Dick Grayson has always been a solid character and way underused by the DCU. I am feeling he is getting the Mary Jane treatment because TPTB just don't know what to do with him.

And I thought Quesada was the worst EIC in comics. Well, he still is but Didio's giving him a run for his money.
Yeah, because Bruce having a kid doesn't already make him look old. This guy just loves to usurp characters. He was the most vocal supporter of Emerald Twilight. He had that disgusting monster Emma Frost steal everything that was Jean Grey's. And now he's having that little shit Damien take Dick's rightful place. The term "raped my childhood" gets thrown around alot. But in this case, it's true. It's like he wakes up every day and wonders how he can shit in my cornflakes even more. Maybe I pissed the guy off some how and didn't even know it. It wouldnt' be the first time. Because, you see, I'm a people person.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: I take back every bad thing I ever said about Judd Winnick. I'll take Jason Todd any day over this garbage.
See, here's my fantasy. I want to take every copy in existance of his Batman run, Doom Patrol run, and New X-Men run and burn it all so no one will ever be subjected to it ever again. But I'll burn it all in a patern that spells out "Fuck You Grant Morrison" and will be so big NASA can see it from space. When Aliens arrive to share their knowledge with us they'll think it's some form a greeting and arrive at The White House saying nothing but "Fuck You Grant Morrison". Not wanting to correct beings who could very easily wipe us out, President Obama plays along and over the course of time it becomes the new international, and later, intergalactic greeting. Centuries from now, on many worlds accross thousands of star systems, "Fuck You Grant Morrison" will be uttered as the phrase of intergalactic peace and brotherhood. But you know, I'm a dreamer.

Batman: Streets of Gotham has Dustin Nguyen on art and Manhunter backups by Marc Andreyko.
