BATMAN Comic books

Back in the late 70s Batman, and Superman as well, was in no less than 7 montly comics..if I recall correctly.

Here we go..these are the ones I used to buy EACH month..
Batman
Detective Comics
Brave and the Bold
World's Finest
Superfriends
Justice League of America
Batman Family

Thats ALOT...that would be, at today's cost, nearly 20$ a month..yikes..

Rob

These would cost minimum $21 today. Probably more since wasn't Batman Fmaily a more expensive oversized book?

Today if you wanted to read every Batman book it would be:

Batman
Detective
Batman & Robin
Batman: Streets of Gotham
Superman/Batman
Super Friends
Batman: The Brave and the Bold

Plus the occasional All-Star Batman and Robin whenever Miller and Lee deign to put out an issue.

Damn..that is alot. I was just stating how in the past, and even now it would seem, Batman and Superman are in so many titles. Does Marvel have heroes that are in so many books as well? Spidey? Captain America?

Rob

By the way, I think this site needs a COMIC BOOK forum. Because I wasn't sure where to start this..but since Comic Books are a media, I chose here.

^^ Generally, comic book threads are posted to Science Fiction and Fantasy. :)

The X-Men exceed even Batman. This month's titles, excluding guest appearances, are as follows (ongoing series are highlighted in bold):

Cable
Dark X-Men: The Beginning (Two Issues)
Dark Wolverine
Exiles
Genext: United (Semi-ongoing; the second in a planned series of miniseries.)
New Mutants
Ultimate X-Men: Requiem (Semi-ongoing; last issue before relaunch.)
Uncanny X-Men
Uncanny X-Men: First Class (Semi-ongoing; the latest of series of miniseries which has lasted several years.)
Wolverine: First Class
Wolverine: Origins
X-Factor
X-Force
X-Men: Forever (Two Issues)
X-Men: Legacy

I chose to exclude the two Deadpool comics scheduled for release this month, including his own ongoing series, one ongoing series, Astonishing X-Men, is briefly on hiatus as the title switches artists, and one ongoing series, Wolverine: Weapon X, is not scheduled for release this month.

:wtf:

The most obvious answer is Wolverine as he appears in his own title, several X-Men books and the New Avengers as well as multiple other appearances.

Spider-Man appears in his own title which is released three times a month (he used to have three different titles which were merged) as well as New Avengers.

Captain America appears in his own title and New Avengers also. However, the entire concept of the Marvel Universe is such that characters do cross paths, they do appear in each other's titles.

Such threads aren't the general case, but they would generally be posted in the threads appropriate to their subject matter (TV & Media for anything without a fantasty or sci-fi element, e.g. James Bond, Persepolis; Science Fiction and Fantasy for everything else).

I believe there is a Blackest Night Batman special or mini upcoming.

Marvel and DC should just team up and put out a Batman/Wolverine book.

$21 dollars? Back in the day, I was dropping 2 bills a month. Then I went in(right before the DC-Marvel Crossover) and realized that the 14 inch high stack waiting for me was a bit excessive-so I walked away, cold turkey. One of the toughest things I've ever done.

You are a stronger man than I....

Back in the day $200 netted you what: About 125-130 books? Today it's 60-70.

Cover price $1.25 for monthlys, $2.50 for "giant" sized and $3-$7 for ridiculously elaborate "specials", like Lady Death #1 or Magneto #0. Plus alternate covers-I have all of the Excalibur #100 variants, for example.
