"Batman: Brave and the Bold" Thoughts?

Has Bat-Mite been mentioned in reports, or are you just assuming? Because I thought they were mostly avoiding Batman-family characters other than Bats himself.

Apparently so. Unfortunate, but outweighed by some of the other names on the list like Adam Strange, Red Tornado and... especially... Kamandi (I guess I did see him in the title sequence)!

Well, I'm not going to say it's unfortunate until I see it. Who knows? Bat-Mite could be a good fit for the goofy, fanciful flavor of this show. He'd certainly fit better than Mr. Mxyzptlk fit into the Timmverse Superman series.

Hm, looking at the Wikipedia page, I'm a bit surprised to see Corey Burton is playing Red Tornado. Of course he's very versatile, but he seems to specialize in archvillains these days.

Well, it could be okay. I'm not that concerned. I'm too happy about seeing all those other characters. :D

Actually, considering Timmverse Mxy was drawn almost EXACTLY from the original Golden Age source material (right down to his first episode of S:TAS being pulled in large chunks of verbatim dialogue from the '40s comics), I'd say they did just fine with that character and even returning Gilbert Gottfried to voice him worked quite well, IMO.

Bat-Mite was a dimestore knock-off whipped up 20 years later for the post-Wertham silliness of the '60s and, frankly, doesn't even rate being mentioned alongside he who would become the Silver Age Superman's GREATEST ENEMY OF ALL TIME! (Alan Moore made that a fact.)

^^ That was a great story. Moore was one of the writers who kicked off the D&G fad, but he had the artistic integrity to be true to Superman's character.

Moore's "Black Mercy" Mongol story was the only Justice League Animated episode that was based on a pre-existing standalone story as well. A shame it didn't give Robin a chance to shine like he did in the original...but Robin didn't fit into JL continuity.

He was in continuity all right (he made several cameos), it's just that he was superfluous to the story. Besides, giving Diana a chance of retribution is far more interesting that Robin saving the day and the story as a whole works best with just those three core characters; no sidekicks.

So I finally saw this, and um......I miss Batman - TAS (truly the only great Batman animated series).

Though it is cool others like this
