Batman 3 = No Nolan?

Yeah this is indeed old news...I am not expecting anything until after Nolan's current science fiction film project is finished and then maybe we won't get anything. It's been so long that I'm kind of thinking that Batman 3 won't happen with Nolan at all.

They're going to offer Chris Nolan everything under the sun (and a few things above it) to get him to direct the next Bat adventure, but it's going to be awhile before we hear whether or not those endeavors have been successful. They're not rushing the next installment by any means.

In other Nolan news, if the rumors that Inception is budgeted at $200 million are true, one wonders what visual delights he's cooking up.

What's really notable about this whole article is that it's the first time that Jett has mentioned that, despite what he HAD been hearing, Nolan's involvement in B3 might not be as automatic as had been previously been expected.

I think that if this is mentioned on BOF, it IS news - it is arguably something above and beyond the rumours that have been going round since TDK was released. That's not to say that he definitely won't make the next movie, but it's not definite that he will either.

I hope that it is simply a matter of Nolan not multi-tasking, currently refusing to contemplate the Bat and giving Inception his all until it's done and dusted, then devoting all his attention to Mr Wayne's alter ego.

There has never been a great superhero threquel, IMHO. And more often than not, the disappointing second sequel has been down to replacement of a director - Donner with Lester, Burton with Schumacher, Singer with Ratner. Raimi is the exepction (though arguably having Venom foisted on him by the studio and Arad was similar, as it showed a deviation from the original vision). I can understand it if Nolan feels he can't top TDK and doesn't want to make the Godfather Part III of superhero movies. But I really hope he's up for a challenge and opts to return to Gotham city.

From what I have heard, Nolan and WB have made a "handshake agreement" to do the third film after Inception. Nolan didn't commit to The Dark Knight right after Batman Begins; he's doing the same here.
