"Batman 3" and "Superman" both in 2012 -- and in IMAX?

I wonder if there'll be a "they're copying the Marvel films/Avengers thing" negative vibe from Joe Moviegoer?

I guess Paramount will have to respond to the Justice League and Avengers, and announce that Jack Ryan, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones, The Godfather, Beverly Hills Cop and G.I. Joe all take place in the same universe and will be meeting in a big movie. :)
If Jack Ryan and Indy Jones are both played by Harrison Ford... cool.

And Jor-El and Don Corleone, Paris (MI) and Spock Prime.

The post-production 3D, such as Clash of The Titans seems pointless tome. But I thought the 'real' 3D of Avatar - filmed in 3D from th outset - was fantastic. It doesn't have to be a fad, surely it's just another technological tool at a filmmaker's disposal, like CGI or durround sound. It can be done well or badly done, the concept itself is not at fault.

I'd as soon see a 2D Batman or Superman as a 3D one made with Clash of ... 3D. But I'd sooner see one made with Cameron's 3D than an Imax version. Sooner in both senses - there's only one Imax cinema in my city, so it's far more easy to see a 3D one in an ordinary cinema.

Christopher Nolan is not a fan of 3D. He said as much at Wondercon's inception panel.

I liked the 3D sequences of Superman Returns, but it seems now, after Avatar, it is just a cash-in fad.

Oh yeah I also forgot that along with Star Trek II the "Spider-Man" reboot is scheduled for summer of 2012 as well. Fuck this is gonna be another big year.

It would be interesting to see a Superman in the Batman Begins Universe. Superman would have to fight some type of real world threat, like a environmental catastrophe or a natural threat from outer space, like an asteroid. Something along the lines of the "World's Finest Trailer"

So, basically what every Superman movie has been like? Wasn't that one of the criticisms of the Superman films that people have, especially in the wake of Superman Returns?

Superman is an alien. Spiderman and Batman are Humans and should team up first.

That will never happen. Sorry.

Well I liked all the Christopher Reeves Superman movies. My complaints with those tend to be the same as other people's. Lex Luthor is played as campy as possible; what with Otis and Ms. Tessmacker, and the search for land and real estate

Everything else I liked though.

Superman Returns took all the bad stuff from the original movies and made it into that one. I particularly hated all the pining for Lois Lane.
The guy freakin' left for 5 years after boning her, and expects her to be at his feet the second he comes back. Even with those faults, SR had some good moments and wasn't "bad", just not really good.

 Batman and Superman are DC characters and Warner owns the screen rights. Spider-man is a Marvel character and Sony owns the screen rights.

Batman and Superman have teamed up in the comics and Superman and Spidey have occasionally crossed over. I'm sure there must have been a Batman/ Spider-man team up at some stage but I can't think of any.

Then you have Chris Nolan's insistence that he wants Batman in a realistic universe and doesn't want other superheroes in that universe. There is perhaps some chance of another DC hero appearing there but absolutely none of one like Spider-man, from an entirely different stable.

Excellent news! Comic Book Resources also has it on their home page! The Spider-Man reboot is so fucked...I wouldn't be shocked if we saw Sony move it up or down after this announcement! Woot Batman 3!

^ The Spider-Man reboot won't fail...they'll just have to figure out a new month for it in order to avoid it getting beaten up by the juggernaut that is "Batman 3" because as we all know...the Batman instills fear...even to movie studios! As for why they are rebooting "Spider-Man" I believe that was covered in an another thread earlier this year!
