The simple fact is this: You want to be competitive, get better players. That's the end of it, really. How a team does that is up to them. Sure, some teams have more money, but as long as they got that money by legitimate means, it is not the government's business to tell them they must give it up. What is this, Robin Hood?![]()

And I'm fully in support of salary caps, despite the fact that one of my own teams, the Toronto Maples Leafs, was hit quite badly by the NHL salary cap. A lot of this was due to mismanagement pre-cap, but even so, my point stands: salary caps are good for sports.
And Roger, I think the attitudes are just different amongst sports fans here and over there. Even though my teams are crap right now, I know that there's still a definite possibility one of them could win a championship sometime in the near-ish future. Holding out for that moment is what makes it all worth it, if you ask me.
