Of course they'll fight crime, but that won't make a Metal Men movie play like an Iron Man rip-off.
Do these robots invented by the brilliant scientist fight crime? I think that might be a deal breaker if this becomes a superhero movie or not.
I just worry if this is made into another terrible DC movie like Green Lantern that it will somehow harm the Iron Man brand.
Good grief.I just worry if this is made into another terrible DC movie like Green Lantern that it will somehow harm the Iron Man brand.
That's one of the most bizarre comments I've ever read. Why would a B or C list characters like the Metal Men (no offense to their fans but they aren't A list) even remotely harm "Iron Man"? Even with similar names?
That's the exact reason why I think this will confuse the general audience. Both have similar titles and robot looking things in the possible trailers fighting crime. It feels a little like Warners trying to cash in on the Iron Man craze. Maybe they should wait a few more years before doing this?
This would be like Warners greenlighting a Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. movie immediately after the first Iron Man was release. Another superhero in armor fighting crime.
I'm one of those people that think the only reason that a Justice League movie might really happen now is because Warners saw how successful Avengers has been.

Rats, I knew I should have included theBecause it was the idea of a Superhero in armor that made Iron Man a success.
Uhh, no, because then the 1997 Steel movie with Shaquille O'Neal would've been a success, rather than a disastrous failure that cost $16 million to make and only earned $1.7 million in domestic box office. As I said above, Steel and Iron Man are basically the same story in broad strokes: genius inventor becomes armored hero to get weapons he invented out of the wrong hands. But the former was a huge flop and the latter was a huge hit. Which had a lot to do with the fact that Robert Downey, Jr. is a much better actor than Shaq, and the fact that his movie had a better script and nearly nine times the budget. What made Iron Man a success wasn't its subject matter, it was the talent and skill of the people who made it.

Iron Man was only a success because the confusing name led people to think it was a sequel to Steel.
