(Capt. Jack Harkness may proclaim that the 21st century is when everything changes, but it is 2010 when the majority of those changes will take place. That is, for "Doctor Who" at least.

David Tennant will depart the series and the show will once again find itself working to break in another Doctor. And this time a new companion will be introduced to accompany him through his travels in time and space. Despite a series of leaks the show has thus far been plagued with, the identity of the companion still remains a closely guarded secret. But could it be a familiar face?

"Jack will always return to the Tardis if The Doctor is in need to help save the planet or conquer an alien race trying to invade," actor John Barrowman told BBC Newsbeat. "That's all I can say. You know how secretive we are.)

I still havent seen anywhere that Jack will be in any of the specials.

oh well as long as John Barrowman says that Matt Smith is handsome and will make a good Doctor, who am I to argue?

those two have a bit of a mutual appercaition society going on anyways

or to sum up

Barrowman: oh Matt your so cute, I think your be a great Doctor
Smith: oh John your so kind, I really enjoy your work as the highly attractive Captain Jack, and I really hope my Doctors meets Jack one day.
Scott Gill: oh boy, now I know how Hilary Clinton feels.

I hope to see Jack in 11's TARDIS. I'm always up for Jack visiting Who. Those two look good together. What?

I wouldn't object if Jack joined on for a while. It'd be nice to have a regular male companion for more than three episodes at a time.

Yes, it would. A brotherly or even father-son dynamic would be a nice change from all the unrequited-love that's gone on lately.

I agree. I hope they get away from all that. It would be good to see an older male companion with 11. I have in my mind someone from the Industrial Revolution. They'd be smart (an inventor); their values would be generally Victorian and quite interesting to see their reactions to aliens (which would probably be good and bad) and if they were older they could have a good father-son dynamic with the Doctor (which, of course would be ironic!)

Ohgod:

What a shit opening paragraph.

Anyway, it's good that there's some much needed change brewing for the show but they're clearly going to have some familiar faces sticking around. Show needs some grounding as much as it needs a fresh outlook imho.

What has been leaked? The article says the series of leaks that the series has been plagued with? I can think of some, but I guess they are for the Tennant era and not Smiths.

From what I can see in the article, Harkness will come back in the new series, I can see him being the "buffer" between the two series (like Rose was for the Ninth and Tenth Doctors).

I dunno, I don't object to Jack or Sarah Jane showing up again but I think Smith should bed into the role first. I'm kinda hoping that Wilf will hang around for at least part of Smith's first episode, but after that I'd like Smith to have pretty much a season where he is the focus! It's Dr Who not the Captain Jack show (that's Torchwood)

nobody will care what a lot of overgrown babymen think - the kids and families will lap him up (well as long as he can act...)

You're right, but on the other hand, the "transition companion" is one of the oldest Doctor Who traditions. Ben, Polly, Sarah Jane, Adric, Nyssa, Tegan, Peri, Mel and Rose all traveled with several incarnations of the Doctor.

This is true, although many of those companions hadn't been around for that long when the regeneration occured. Ben and Polly weren't with the 1st doctor very long. Adric had only been with the 4th Doctor for a handful of stories, Nyssa showed up in his penultimate show and Tegan in his final story. Essentially when you think of the three of them they're Davison's companions. Same with Peri, just two stories with Davison. Mel was only with the 6th Doctor for a couple of stories as well (although that was mainly down to circumstance)

The anomoly in your list is probably Sarah Jane I guess.

Given that it's Moffat's show from now on I'd imagine he'll want to tread his own path...although having said that obviously he is the creator of Jack...and there's still that 2 year gap in his memory to sort out sometime!

Captain Jack- Damn you doctor, always getting younger as I grow older.

Doctor- Yeah Jack but you get to live forever, something a TimeLord can never do.

Barrowman being with 10 at the end and beginning with 11 would be really good as it does tie the 11th with what has happened from 9 threw 10.

My worry is 11 pops out, and what has happened these last 4 seasons/series would be forgotten and never spoke of.

But im still kind of new to this Doctor Who and upset that people i work with have never heard of this show. Insane.

Btw how tall is Matt Smith and How tall is Barrowman?
