Barcley and Troi on Voyager - What did you Think?

Agreed, plus if you watch Troi's character over season 1 and most of season 2 her accent seems to change. Kinda weird.

Sirtis talks about that at Cons.

Originally they asked her to do an accent to make her sound more "alien". She was told it was their(the writers) idea that all Betazoids sound that way............until Luwaxanna showed up and had no accent at all. That's why she dropped it and stuck with her natural accent instead.

if you're talking about physical appearance then I'd agree, but as far as character development there were several people on voyager who changed much more than she did

I think it was good they started giving her a more active role in the cast as the series entered the 6th & 7th seasons.

I didn't like it. Troi was my least favorite character from TNG so I wasn't exactly excited to have her popping up again. Barclay was a little better, mainly because his character was at least based on something (a non-perfect 24th century starfleet officer, struggling with holo-addiction).

Crap...I thought of this thread earlier. The episode where EMH goes back to the Alpha Quadrant to treat Dr. Zimmerman was on (Half Life...maybe). Anyway, half way through the episode Troi is sitting there btiching about the two Picardo characters and the holographic assistant shoves a bowl of chocolate ice cream in front of Troi.

It was really weird.

the episode is called Life Line....an what do you mean she "shoves a bowl of chocolate ice cream in front of Troi" ?????? She was being nice, she said Reg told her it was her favorite so she replicated it for her

Yes she did ... but ok, think about it. You and I are in an office and we are talking about a problem, tryiong to figure out a way to solve it. Now I happen to know you love chocolate ice cream. I would probably offer you something to drink, I would not automatically send my assistant out to get you ice cream without asking and just put it in front of you saying "I know how much you like ice cream".

No one else was eating or drinking, every one was just sort of sitting around and all of a sudden - shazam - a bowl of ice cream is being put in front of Troi's face. It was just a poorly written scene.
