Spoilers Bad sign for one Trek character, actor cast in new show

That does sound worrying... Season 2 is planning to start filming in April and will take probably until the end of 2018, maybe even longer... Season 1 took 10 months to film...

What if the early anthology rumours are true and we are getting a new cast and setting every season... I hope not!

^
But Discovery takes 10 months of filming which starts in April. If the new FX comedy get's picked up I doubt they will wait for season two of Discovery to be wrapped up in December 2018 or even later...

It's a pilot, might not get picked up. And 6 months here, 6 months there is always possible.

Just like how Martin-Green appeared on both The Walking Dead and Discovery at the same time, as per the official press releases.

I assume she could easily handle the long commute between Toronto (where DSC is filmed) and wherever they film TWD (Atlanta?). No reason to think Jones couldn't as well.

Isaacs filmed Season 1 of the OA and Discovery.

Isaacs filmed season 1 of The OA well before production on Discovery began. He is now filming season 2 of The OA, well after his filming on Discovery wrapped up. Filming two TV shows at the same time (almost) never happens, most certainly not when the actor has a regular role on one and a supposedly second role will be recurring.

According to his Twitter account its a guest role in the pilot and he is not leaving Discovery

He also qualified that with "for now". We all know no one would lie or mislead people about their status on one show when they are cast in another....

Variety states it's one of four roles that are at least recurring. Acccording to Ben Fransham, Jones is playing his character in the show, who is one of the main characters in the movie.

She was written out of the show before Discovery began production... Wayoung meant the press release lied...

They lied to try and protect the story point of her leaving, I stopped watching TWD a long time ago so didn't care either way but you can see why they wouldn't want people to know one of their cast was leaving before their death scene (even though it was the worst kept secret in history.

It is a recurring role, if the pilot gets picked up... Why would Jones be auditioning for other series if he starts filming Discovery in April until December 2018 or even February 2019?

According to the Wikipedia page on the series (I know I know) its a 6 part mini series airing in Mid 2018 so its likely his part will be filmed before Discovery starts in April and it wouldn't be the first time a show worked round an actors schedule.

Doug has so far referenced it as a "guest" spot 3 times on Twitter so unless its a bluff to protect the finale I'm taking it as fact hes not going anywhere (even if he does say "Not leaving DISCO. Just a guest on the pilot for now!")

The reference to the six episodes on Wikipedia is regarding a Australian/New Zealand spin-off, not the US series!

A ten month shooting schedule for the first season of Discovery could be attributed to all the turmoil surrounding the shuffling of staff that took place. Ten months to shoot fifteen episodes is a long time, as usually episodes are filmed in a much shorter amount of time. Maybe season 2 will have a shorter shooting schedule and allow for other projects for most of the cast. I'm not sure either way, but an actor doing more than one thing at a time isn't unheard of.
