And there was much rejoicing!
I understand that's sad news to some of you, but for others it's great. If there's never another JJTrek movie, it will be too soon.
Ya know, that's a shit attitude to take. If you don't enjoy them, then you simply don't watch them. However, there are many people who do enjoy them who may not get another one. But that's great news for people who it doesn't affect either way?
Selfish.
What attitude should I take then? I never watched any of the JJ films. I'm elated that they don't have plans for any more. In my comment I acknowledged that people may feel differently than me and that's fine. It's ok if other people are saddened by this news. But if it's ok for others to be sad then its ok for me to happy, unless of course the purpose of this thread is just to be a pity party.

My point is, if did doesn't affect it either way(you don't watch them) then why be elated that other people who do want it don't get to watch it?
Star Trek 4 gets made - You don't watch it, but other people who like it can watch it.

Do you get it? The outcome is exactly the same for you either way. That being the case, you're simply taking joy in other people's disappointment.
Woah, hang on. I respected your viewpoint until this. So let me get this straight. You haven't even watched any of them yet? Riiiiight.
What about Discovery, though? Surely that's doing far worse by overwriting/changing the prime universe with it's new Klingons, spore drives and Spock siblings?Interesting. I disagree though that it doesn't affect me. The other three films have affected me even though I've never seen them. The JJ films changed the way we talk about Trek. We now have differentiate between the so-called "prime" timeline and alternative time lines. I have to take precious discussion time pointing out that "No, Romulus didn't explode, and no there was no U.S.S. Kelvin." It affects me because it affects the franchise.
So for me it's more like this:
Star Trek 4 gets made - I don't watch it, but now I have to put up with everyone who did watch it and all the idiotic ideas and images that the film brought into the Star Trek franchise.
Star Trek 4 doesn't get made - I don't watch it and on the plus side there's no more idiotic stuff coming from the JJTrek universe.
I respect that we're going to disagree. But just because I don't like what the JJTrek films brought to the franchise and I'm happy there wont be any more, doesn't mean I have a shitty attitude.
I've seen some short clips here and there on youTube, but I've never watched them. There's enough information out there online that I don't need to watch them.
