Ventress right now:

He needs to stay dead.

How offputting for him to show up.
Nah, I'm all for him to still be showing up in the post ST-era and beyond; all cyborged up so all that's left of him by that point that isn't machine is just a pair of snarling lips and a toothpick.

Cad Bane is a cockroach. Surviving is what he's really good at, and honestly he's easily one of the best mid-level villains Star Wars has ever come up with, precisely because he's both utterly despicable AND actually good at what he does.
He's also not a plotter or a schemer like Sidious, or Maul, or Thrawn. He's only interested in the next payday. If the New Republic are willing to pay his rates; he'd just as happily be hunting down Imperial war criminals and ex-Inquisitors. That means he's adaptable for almost any eventuality.

What a horrifying thought.

Yeah, Bane's awesome. I'm just glad they haven't over used him like they tend to with a lot of their characters who start to become popular.

My reaction to anything Bane related:

Or "Elan Sleezbaganno", the Death Stick dealer from episode 2.

Yeah, but that wasn't spoken onscreen and would be just a behind-the-scenes in-joke if not for the habit of the Star Wars franchise of developing even its most obscure background players in the supplemental material. A name that's used overtly and frequently in the aired dialogue is another matter.

That's just sounds with no particular meaning, perfectly acceptable as an alien name. "Cad Bane" is both a cad (a scoundrel, a creep) and a bane (a cause of death or ruination), so it's really on-the-nose. It's like naming him "Jerk Toxin."
Don't give Lucasfilm any ideas or else we will be getting a six issue "Jerk Toxin" Star Wars miniseries from Marvel. ;)

You lot do remember the part where Star Wars is primarily aimed at kids, right? Specifically the 8-12 year old range? It's meant to sound a little arch and silly. It's built in to how Lucas conceived the whole thing. Making the names easy to say, easy to remember, and deliberately on-the-nose when it comes to the villains is about keeping it accessible to that demographic.
