Backup control room on the New Enterprise ?

TransporterBeam

Lieutenant Commander
Will the new Enterprise have a Backup Control room? There was one on the Original Show. Where was it located ? Would there be two of them for each half of the ship ?

The auxillary control room is actually the barista station in the Starbucks located down the hall from engineering.

No, there's no Backup Control room on the new ship.

How do you know? Have you seen the new ship layout?

Yep.

Basically, they've thrown out most of the redundant or little-used sets. No auxilary control room, no Jefferies tubes. No giant rec rooms, but lots of small "holochambers" that do everything the holodecks on TNG could do but in a space not much larger than the restroom on a commercial airliner.

Most of the 2,000-man crew are housed in bunk arrangements such as you'd find on a modern aircraft carrier.

OK. What's the purpose of the large construction suspended from the ceiling of the bridge set that David Gerrold got his wrist slapped for mentioning?

Yes. It will be inconveniently located inside the crew's head on deck 6. This will be the one of the primary reasons for future refits.

No Swimming Pool?

...here we go again. Is that poster really legit?
Possibly.

Dennis did, after all, effectively trademark the phrase "Absolutely Right™" and has been known to use the IMAO* or IMNSHO** qualifications when posting.

However, we seem to be wandering somewhat far afield of our discussion of the topic of whether the Enterprise will have an Auxiliary Control Room (as previously seen in "The Way to Eden", to name one example.) Starship Polaris has reason to believe that we will not see that room, apparently.

The bowling alley is another story altogether. Mr. Riley? One more time...

Always "IMAO" - "not-so-humble" cannot contain the magnificience of my unwavering and expansive self-regard. ;)
