I was an extra in the movie, The Guardian. It was filmed on USCG bases (where I used to work before retirement) and they asked for those interested in being extras to come in (on base) and they took our pictures and we filed paperwork. I think they chose those of us who looked about the age of the star, Kevin Costner. I made $75 for a day's work. I was just in the background, but they chose some Coasties to be in the bar scenes and some had lines so maybe they earned more than I did. It was kind of boring because we sat around waiting for about 10 hrs and then our scene took about half an hour to film. They fed us after that and I must say it was a great buffet. Sela Ward ate with us and was very gracious.
there are ads in North Carolina newspapers when extras are needed. I'm sure that they use other venues also because a lot of movies are filmed here.
