Nike made a new 2 minute commercial for their exact replica of the Nike Air self-lacing shoes in Back to the Future Part II featuring Christopher Lloyd reprising his Dr. Emmett Brown role.

The replica will not be power lacing though.
The proceeds from the 1,500 pairs of shoes, which will be auctioned off on eBay, will go to the actor's Parkinson's disease research foundation.

Fox was funny as hell on Letterman last night.

But man, those shoes are a helluva lot uglier than I remember them.

The promos are pretty awesome and it's nice they are for charity. I wouldn't mind owning a pair if Nike ever decide to release them to retail.

a pair on ebay is going for $12,000. Insane prices for a pair of shoes. Others are going for $7K down to $4K so looks like i wont be getting these shoes which sucks.

@Snick27 I guess you didn't see the part where these shoes are for charity? So no one will be getting them unless Nike starts selling therm at retail.

Yes i no its for Charity.

Well saddly some of us would of liked to have own a pair of these.

You do realize some people will be wearing these right? These are real shoes.

^ Yeah. I'm one of the people who want a pair. Hopefully Nike will release them retail and at a reasonable price.

@Checkmate I understand that. You think though the people buying them on Ebay are doing so just to resell them? I highly doubt that. They are buying them because they are fans, have the cash, and are wanting to help out a good cause (at least in most cases). I'm sure there are some collectors who are buying them to resell them at a later date.


Nike actually does have the patent for the Air Mags so who knows maybe in a couple years...like say 2015? :)

Something is no longer a "collectable" if no one else wants them, which would be the case if Nike turned around and sold them openly. And if they did, no future attempts to do something similar would work because people would know/rightly suspect that they'd just do the same thing again.

This situation is very similar to the core idea in Jennifer Government. Has anyone read this? Basically, Nike (Yes, it really is Nike in the novel) come up with a way to make a shoe that everyone wants but so ridiculously expensive that nobody can afford it. The one difference here is that it's being done for charity.

I hope Chris Lloyd does his Doc Brown routine again in 4 years. I mean, still playing Doc Brown in the REAL 2015? Heavy.
