Back in my day...

Back in my day...

- "Ancient Chinese Secret"

- Baseball uniforms so ugly that they would be rejected by clown college on the basis of not being dignified enough. Here I blame the Astros, the 80's White Sox, the 1975 Indians (quote from Boog Powell himself: "I look like the world's largest Bloody Mary!"), the 1979 Pirates, etc.

- "Concrete Donuts"

- DISCO :barf:

- SNL was actually funny

- Nixon

- Schoolhouse Rock

- Super Friends! :techman:

Confucius say baseball wrong. Man with four balls cannot walk.

It all started going downhill when bronze came along...

Thankyou! I saw this clip a while ago when I was channel surfing and could never find it online afterwards. Will be using it in my class about metallic bonding (which I frame around the move from stone age to bronze age)

Back in my day you had those Power Macintosh 5000 series computers that didn't do much. Then 10 years later everyone had iPods and Mac computers with pretty graphics and insanely powerful hardware...Yes I grew up in a technological revolution period.

Well, as long as no one takes it seriously as historical documentary. ;) After all, many human societies had already been agrarian for thousands of years before the Bronze Age kicked off around 2500 BCE, and I imagine most of them already had access to copper.

Oops, almost forgot. Back in my day we had:

- Wacky Packages (unfortunately all of mine got thrown out :sigh: )

- Carnation Breakfast Bars

- Unfortunately we also had THESE.

- Ark II, Space: 1999, UFO. I think it was something in the drinking water.

And you tell that to kids today, and they WON'T believe ya'.

Back in muh day, a gallon of gas cost 69 cents.

Six bucks would get you two Star Wars action figures (including tax).

Most stores were closed on Sundays.

All TV stations went off the air after midnight.

The Burger King Whopper was a truly huge sandwich.

Most things were built to last a very long time.

A girl was considered skinny if she was a size 8.

People had bigger imaginations, longer attention spans, and a greater suspension of disbelief (not so many fanboys back then).

Allbums came on cassette.

Some white people had afros too.

In MY day...

We had BIG DAMN ROCKETS...and we went to THE FRICKEN MOON WITH EM...
And We LAUNCHED A BIG DAMN SPACE STATION WITH ONE LAUNCH!!...

We had 3 TV Stations..and they ran the most entertaining programs ever made...

If you had a family, you drove a station wagon..and were proud you did!...

Had 1 telephone in the house, 2 cars in the garage..a HUGE 27" TV (COLOR!!) to watch those 3 stations on...

Toys were often made of metal...and you and your friends biked around in huge howling packs of kids..(like wolves I tell ya!) and your friend's parents kept an eye on you so you wouldn't get into too much trouble...

Back in my day...the day I was born, actually...there were men walking on the moon. (Apollo 15, August 2, 1971. Yes, I'm old.)

Back in my day we had three channels for news, and they only did news for a couple of hours at most!

In my day Ninja Turtles had pupils.

Not only that, they were hugely popular action figures. And you were damn lucky if you could find any of the four Turtles in stores at all. Those suckers were harder to find than a Nintendo Wii.

Speaking of Nintendo. Going from an Atari 2600 to an NES was like opening my eyes. I thought it had the best graphics ever, and me and my brothers played the heck out of it too. If we weren't eating or sleeping, we were playing that sucker. And what were we playing? The original Super Mario Bros.

Also, Chuck E Cheese was actually a really cool arcade with several brand new Arcade games. Lined with arcade games as far as these little eyes could see, not like it is now, where it mostly has ticket machines.

And oh yeah, speaking of arcades, they used to have all kinds of varieties of games. Not the same combination of racers, and fighters they have in Arcades nowadays. We actually had some real options.

In my day, the arcade involved tossing rings at sticks and throwing baseballs at bottles. :rommie:
