Back Cover Blurb and cover for New Frontier: Blind Man's Bluff

Simon& Schuster now has the cover and back cover blurb for Blind Man's Bluff online.

Captain MacKenzie Calhoun has faced incredible odds before, but nothing he has ever experienced could prepare him for the simultaneous threats from two of the most destructive forces he’s ever encountered. The first is the D’myurj—a mysterious and powerful alien race bent on either the complete domination of humanity or its destruction . . . a potentially massive risk to the very foundations of Starfleet, one that goes so deep it’s impossible to determine whom to trust. The second is even more alarming: Morgan Primus, once a living creature with a soul and a conscience, now an incredibly sophisticated computer simulation taking up residence within the very core of the U.S.S. Excalibur . . . and quickly becoming a growing menace for the Federation. MacKenzie Calhoun is playing a dangerous game as he attempts to outwit and outmaneuver these new enemies, with the fate of the Excalibur crew members and potentially the lives of billions at stake. . . .

^ I don't...?

But: sounds pretty good. PAD says this is the last book on his contract, so there might not be any more, and this sounds sufficiently epic to finale if necessary.

Were the D'myurj the guys who went on the rampage in Treason? The name sounds familiar.

Good to see more focus on Morgan, but I'm getting really tired of the landscape and/or insignia/sword covers. Can't we get something a little different? I haven't liked a New Frontier cover since...hmmm...actually, I don't like any of the covers come to think of it (with the exception of Once Burned). I'll shut up now.

So has there been any word on if this takes place before or after Destiny's Borg invasion?

It's a New Frontier novel, so it's entirely possible there won't be any mention at all either way.

Moving right along... am I the only person who really doesn't like that gimmicky comic book tactic of coming up with names like D'myurj?

Is it any worse than Mr Atoz the librarian, Helen Noel at the Christmas party, forgetful and vague Lethe, the felinoids of Cait in the Lynx constellation, tripodal Arex of Triex, or the cyborg Borg?

Well, "Triex" was another Peter David coinage. I grew up thinking of Arex as an Edoan, thanks to Alan Dean Foster, the Concordance, etc.

Can't wait for this, I hope this is not the last in the series. The cover matches Treason

2 questions

1. When is this out?
2. Is it a trade paper back or a mmpb?

It's a trade coming out in April.
Oh, and I'm another one who doesn't care for the current style of NF covers. They're just really boring IMO. Lets get some ships or characters or something on one again.

Slightly, yes, by virtue of the goofy spelling. But then I think several of your examples are annoying, too.

Yep, but I figured if I didn't include it someone would point out my omission. ;)

Actually, his species is not given in the "ST Concordance". It comes from the ADF "ST Logs", his script for a comic/record and the Lincoln Enterprises' "Biography of Arex".

Cait, and the a map pointing out the location of the Lynx constellation in relation to the rest of the UFP, were in the TAS Writers' Bible (a copy is in a US reference section of a US public library somewhere, according to Wersgor) but no one has reported if Arex was given a species in that.

The cover however is deeply uninspiring.

Deep hole! ;)
