Babylon 5: Awesome!

I think I'll like Farscape. I loved Stargate, and not only is that a little silly, but it ended up with a couple of ex-Farscapers in it.

Hmm...

Farscape and Stargate, aside from the inclusion of wormholes, are not even remotely similar.

In a vaguely similar vein, I want everyone to hate the new BSG as much as I do

Well, here you go. I hate that show with a passion. Specifically, it's relentlessly downbeat tone. And Kara. I hate her guts. Too bad too, I started out as a supporter when so many fans were bitching about the reimagining and the fact that Starbuck was a girl.

Maybe you and I should start a club.

I love Farscape, B5, BSG, Star Trek and Stargate, all worthy space operas, all have their own character. Firefly, too, but gone way too soon. Also, Space: Above and Beyond for one worth checking out.

Odyssey 5 was kinda interesting too when talking about cancelled scifi-shows, but Babylon 5 is my overall favorite. Along side with Farscape of course!

I don't see why everybody hates that. I think it was an interesting alternative to simply "firing phasers", or whatever the other sci-fi shows do.

Do you really want an answer? Because it's coming ...

The reason "everybody" hates that isn't the holographic firing system at all. It's because of the screaming. Ok fine, you're in the thick of battle, you're exercising vigorously, and then out of the blue, you start screaming continuously for several minutes. For a lot of fans of the era, that's what turned people off from LotR. That was when it circled the shark.

Um, Okay. And yeah, I still want an answer. I don't see why screaming (which I don't remember) would bother somebody.

The legitimate criticism of the holographic system is that the way it's portrayed, the weapons officer would be exhausted in short order. There was one scream, albeit a rather long one. For some reason, many people seem to use this one weakness to designate the movie as bad.

In the script, it was a less energetic portrayal, although the primal scream is in it.

Personally, I thought it was a far better pilot than "The Gathering" and I thought the characters had promise.
