Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

I didn't go straight to film school after high school, don't know why you thought that

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

Have we had an image of the blond woman yet?

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

yeah check a couple of pages back I posted a imageshack link

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

Ah, excellent. She was quite striking, but I was too disturbed by the woman with the phallic hair to pay enough attention to her.

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

Welcome to the bbs ninjax. I agree with you that a movie shot on film (instead of digital video) looks better on the big screen.

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

thank you Cyrus, thats why Miami Vice looked weird

do you mean that random girl with the strange hair do (like a tight cylinder shape?)

I think that shot is the one and only clear shot of the blonde women in the film, I can't find her in the wider shots

there are a few interesting people on the bridge of the Enterprise that I would like to see again,

there was a women who had one line she spoke to Uhura after Kirk and Spock go onto the Narada she sounded Russian or Scottish, I know there is a big difference between the too but I can't tell what it was

Look up "phallic" and I think you'll know what I'm referring to. :)

They were the only two randoms I noticed, but I'll pay more attention on my next viewing.

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

yeah another word for it is penis lol

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

im 23 years old and I haven't to high school since 2002

its GENERATION Y

I grew up in the late 80's/90's and grew up along side computers, consoles, technology rather then being born into a world like Generation Z or IPOD generation

23 so born in 86 left high school at 16? being 4 years old at the turn of the 90's doesn't really constitute 'growing up' in the late 80's.

From what i've read so far you'd be doing well to grow up before the turn of 2010

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

I do not remember penis-head, but that blonde woman is very striking.

I have always wondered what the heck was going on with these penis hats from ST:IV.. are those Vulcans under those hats?

Fine then ninjax, I'm sort of into hobby video game design. This is my take on the movie. Wait around for my awesomeness.

First off, I think it takes FAR FAR too long to get into the meat of the story. I think it's like 15 minutes before Kirk steals the car. It just didn't work for me. Secondly, I really don't see the point of showing Kirk's birth. The whole thing seemed, to me like the whole point was to hit people over the head with "ZOMG, TEH KIRKS IS BORN IN TEH SPACE WHILE DADDY FIGHTS TEH EVIL ONE!" which was a bit much. It seemed like JJ was setting up Kirk to be somewhat Messianic, which isn't a good thing. Kirk isn't the Child of Destiny.

Second thing, I loved the pacing. It was fast enough to keep people interested, and it actually did reveal a lot about the characters that I'd never considered, like McMoy being a bit more willing to bend/break the rules for a good cause. It's a good mix. It wasn't video-gamey in my opinion, there was a good bit of character development.

A second complaint, I didn't like the troll guy with Scotty. I'm hoping he's not going to morph into the Trojan JarJar and be the wisecracking comic relief. Jar Jar nearly killed Star Wars.

I was born in 85 and im sure you think your smart with that last comment but come on you don't know me, I happen to be a mature person, just because I write a few misleading comments that weren't thought out on a forum doesn't mean I need to grow up. I know who I am and what I am capable of and thats all that matters.

My point was people from generation y grew up along side the various advancements in technology rather then being born into a world with that and thus taking it for granted. I played with amigas and commodore 64's and then eventually pc's and ps1 and 2 etc. so that among other things is why Generation Y are tomorrows leaders and not the IPOD or MYSPACE generations if that all makes sense

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

if you could get inside my brain you would be blown away by the stories and characters I have thought up. these films of mine could make millions of dollars one day.
If you could get inside our heads you'd be blown away with our ideas too. See, there's a lot of creative types in here. Some of the posters in the TrekLit forum have had books published. One poster wrote an ep of TNG, iirc.

I made a 13min short horror film call "Escape From Hellview" for my diploma and It was awesome first attempt at writing/directing and when we screened it at the school after it finished the room went apeshit with applause and noise. I don't get a big ego from this. it tells me that I know what im doing and I can make something entertaining
Ummm, bit of a contradiction in the highlighted bits there. Just because we find we can do something and are amazed that we can, doesn't mean everyone or even anyone else is.

I'm from Australia. I'm a writer. I have a movie script in preproduction for the SciFi Channel (so God alone knows how it's going to turn out or even when right now). I'm only mentioning it here because I'm actually doing it, but that's all. I sure as hell don't know how it's going to turn out When it's made, then I'll let you know how teh awsum I am.

And for the record, I didn't go to film school, I taught myself from books. Mind you, it's been a long slow journey, what with raising kids and sundry other dramas.

Grammer is important. How can you communicate your ideas to the people who you want to back your film if they can't read it? They won't waste their time, no matter how great the idea itself is if you can't convey it clearly. I had to reread a couple of your sentences to get the gist of them. Yes, it's important to get the ideas down fast, but there's no point if stuff is lost in translation.

the thing you need to understand is I have watched a load of shit dvd movies and t.v series and I know what works and what doesnt I know what is entertaining and I know what my generation wants
Fixed that for you :D Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I'd be interested to know what you think works and what doesn't, but that might be a thread for the TV & Media subforum.

And if you take this stuff down to TNZ (The Neutral Zone)... well, it's a subforum you have to sign up for. The discussions there are... robust. Tell them there how awesome you are. That'll be fun.

And teacake, could you do me eine teeny teeny favour? Could you edit the pic down to about 700 pixels wide? I hate the page stretch. Thanks.

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

Dude, most people here are your age or older. Just stop.

The IPOD and MYSPACE generations are the day after tomorrow's leaders.

It's just the way it works.

Sorry Australis, I hadn't linked to this forum before. My page was all ready stretched to buggery with the awesome lensflare zombies in this thread, lol.

DONE.

I just want to say if your goal was to entertain us you have. This is one of the most entertaining review threads I have seen so far! And I actually did learn a few things from your post.

Re: AWESOME THOUGHTS ON STAR TREK XI BY FILM GRADUATE PLEASE READ EVER

Hey look, i don't want to knock a guy for his achievments i was just having a bit of a laugh. I'd take some advice from the posts here though. Awesomeness has to be earned so if I were you I'd be a little more humble and a little less KungFu Panda while you have nothing to your name. But you seem to have a dream so go for it.
