Awesome STARCRAFT II gameplay vid with Blizzard commentary

This map looks exactly like Sholazar Basin in World of Warcraft. There are too many colours and not enough shadows in the video. I demand a grittier, more realistic aesthetic as seen in the original Starcraft. In omitting Raynor's moustache, Blizzard are obviously catering to WoW's sunshine and flowers crowd and have lost touch with the true essence of Starcraft.

Seriously though, great video. SC2 is still my most anticipated game. :techman:
 
This artstyle does look a little like WOW, which I despise.

But I'm a huge Starcraft honk, and this looks like more Starcraft. So I am happy with that.
 
Damn. I would totally watch SC matches with those guys announcing. They made it seem interesting and exciting.

they explicitly note that this is from an Alpha of SC2 - but the game is looking gorgeous and very polished.

Thank you for sharing that. I've let SC2 fall completely off of my radar, so I'm way behind at this point. However, watching this video has brought me somewhat up to speed and has me REALLY wanting to buy this game.

I'm pretty exclusively a console gamer these days, but for Starcraft 2, I have to go PC. I can't wait.

Yeah, that's the first time I've watched a match with commentary like that, and they were very enjoyable.
 
I don't think I've seen any gameplay footage where someone was playing the Zerg. And not very much with the computer playing them. Where's the Zerg love? Is Blizzard not done with them or something?

They're not done with any of the races, seems there's a unit change every week or so. Last I heard, the Protoss Mothership is back to being unique again. :lol:

That said, Zerg are certainly the least developed race at this point. I'm liking their mechanics so far, mobile defenses, creep playing a more significant role both offensively/defensively, etc.
 
I'm looking forward to this finally coming out in 09...and in case anyone is interested I noticed on Chapters that next week a new Starcraft book is coming out about Aturus Mengst and his family which seems interesting. Also the second Starcraft Omnibus came out last week...
 
Caught the video recently. Sweet! I'm really looking forward to this game a lot. I still love the original one, and I hope this will be just as good.

I did find some of the commentary in the video a little grating but it's not a surprise. It's your typical esports type commentary where the commentators get over excited.

Still, I'm looking forward to the next ones a lot. And some Zerg play would be welcome.
 
It was great seeing the game in action and the commentary was pretty fun to watch. I just wish the Protoss player hadn't sucked so much. Seriously dude, build a cannon beside your proxy pylon and stop with the colossuses

I saw this on friday and was actually coming in here to share it. Looks great, albeit the same game more or less. I'm so excited for this though, SC is a living legend of a franchise and this is near the top of my list.
 
To be honest, and a bit off topic, I have to say I'm looking much more forward to Dawn of War 2 at this point. Though maybe that's just because of my recent interest in Warhammer in general.
 
That was sweet! I'd say I'm still waiting on Diablo 3 more but I'm also a SC fan so this vid was welcome indeed.
 
I'm trying to get the full quality video but the blizzard downloader is running stupidly slow. Anyone else having this trouble? Does anyone know the url for the full quality video?
