Away Team Gear Breakdown

I think it actually says 300TB. But yeah, since when did Star Trek use contemporary data storage units?

BRING BACK THE KILOQUAD!!! ;)

Though apparently the Tricorder only has an emergency Data Dump of 100TB, seems awfully small for 240 years in the future.
I tend to think that Starfleet gear was built to be far more rugged and utilitarian than stuff that can be found in the civilian market. Civilian equipment could have greater memory capacity, processing power, etc., but they may also be more delicate and prone to breaking from very rough usage than more durable but more basic Starfleet equipment, IMO.

Some of the features in the bottom box reference the TNG Tricorder

They're using some of the same stuff in the ones in the article, noticeably the TM:# in the corner.
The phaser tech specs are straight from the old Star Fleet Technical Manual too.

FWIW, the TOS phasers are the Phaser One Mk1 and Phaser Two Mk 2, the DSC ones Phaser One Mk3 and Phaser Two mk2 (i.e. they're meant to be the exact same pistol model but a slightly different palm phaser mounted on top)

I'm not seeing any 'Mk's listed on the TM pages, at least the ones I can find on google.

But you're right about the effective ranges, they're identical.

In the 2260's should be Landing Party.
Quads are a TNG invention. Not surprised they borrowed from old TOS manuals. Anyone know the DSC Science advisor?

I just double checked and you're right, it's "type" in the STTM and "mk" on these Disco versions.

The pistol being the same "in-universe" fits with the intro sequence where a TOS phaser explodes and reforms into the Disco version.

If anything, DSC helps us out here by using the ENT/TNG era "away team" and the TOS "landing/boarding party" interchangeably. Then again, ENT did that already...

...I'm just waiting to hear of "turboelevators" again.

Nothing about cut-pasting those TM callouts seems to run contrary to onscreen use yet. We haven't seen adjustment of phaser settings beyond the stun/kill toggle yet, now have we? I wonder if the Phaser One item is actually separable in these props, or (as is less unlikely) at least exists as a separate prop. Or is it just abstract fiction at this stage, with no immediate plans of seeing onscreen use? There were many DSC eps where concealed carry of a tiny Type One would have been a Kirk thing to do, yet the heroes flaunted their Type Twos or even brought along a full rifle...

Well Anovos's prop replicas have it separate, as does McFarlands Toy, and they get their stuff from the show.
