I don't particularly care. Sure, it feels a little weird, but I was walking here first!
When I read the thread title though, I thought this would be about avoiding collisions with fellow oncoming pedestrians. You know? You're walking along a path, and suddenly there's someone walking the other way along the same path as you. You can see you're going to collide, so you move off to the side, but they just happen to move the same way as you and you're still going to collide so you keep trying to move out of the way while the other person moves the same way, and you're just getting steadily closer. Eventually, one of you just has to put up their hands, says you go that way, I'll go this way, and chuckling, you pass and go on your merry way.
I can't count how many times this has happened to me!
