Avenging the Whales...

Ferengi Prime 5

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
We all know the Star Trek movie The Voyage Home. Where the whales are brought forward in time to save earth from an alien probe from vaporizing the oceans. I bet you once the probe returns home or sent home the information about earth. These aliens would read the information and figure out quite quickly these new sentient species(man) on the planet genocide their allies/friends the whales. I bet these aliens would be sending a war fleet of starships to avenge their allies/friends the whales. I would not feel to smug in the Star Trek universe for doom is coming. Maybe we track the probe back to its home world and send our fleet of Starships to glaze the world.

George and Gracie probably put in a good word for the humans of the 23rd century.

Here's a wrinkle... what if, in the original timeline, George and Gracie were actually the exact pair of humpback whales that were needed to ensure the continued existence of the species, and their sudden disappearance was what led to the humpbacks to be hunted to extinction because the population was already small due to no offspring from those two?

"There's some chance that an alien species might be coming someday to perhaps do bad to us...so we should annihilate them right now just in case."

Sure. Sounds very Trek to me. :shifty:

A Federation Romantic... Do I have to remind you of Section 31 for they let lose a genocidal virus to eliminate the Founders in DS9. Lets not forget Discovery challenge with section 31 and now they are 900 years in the future. I like to point out section 31 numerous assassinations over the centuries. It does sound like Star Trek.

PS.. Did not Sisko poison a whole planet's atmosphere? It does sound like Star Fleet.

It is not out of the realm that section 31 or Star Fleets A.I. threat computers that alien probe as a great threat to the UFP...

bollocks - if they can't fight one drone succesfully how are they supossed to 'glaze' its homeworld?

Section 31 wasn't invented when TVH was made, and Roddenberry would have screamed bloody murder had such a thing been suggested.

And it's Sisko, not Cisco.

A Federation cynic...how edgy.

It could be their home world...
Thank you... but in Star Trek lore Section 31 has been around from the beginning...
which way is it? if you claim trek lore for section 31 being always there then every tricorder would have identified that probe as xinti. that didn't happen, right? so it can't be xinti
Surprise attack... I figure Star Fleet has many tools to destroy or level a planet...
still bollocks (that's british for b'llsh*t, btw) - the federation cannot defend its main world (terra) against an unmaned drone - how on earth should a 'surprise attack' end in anything but a great marianas turkey shoot on an interstellar level? do you believe 'they' (whoever they are) defend their homeworld with the equivalent of hms victory?

... also, 'they' power down the solar system (manmade powerplants, that is) with no traceable technology) - how would starfleet find out where to 'glaze' them? follow them with a bajorian lightship*?

in short: i never understood why those native americans didn't follow the mayflower back to england and burn the british isles to the ground  (do we have a sarcasm emoji?)

---
*
  1. does starfleet even know that bajor exists at that time?
  2. if they do is there a bajorian lightship in a terran museum?
  3. if there is does anybody know how to fly it?
  4. if yes 'they' probably swat it like fly
  5. ... and that's not even covering the problem how that intrepid starfleet crew follows 'their' drones' course

The Saratoga detected the Probe at a distance without any apparent ill effect. When it got closer that’s when they lost power. If Starfleet wanted to follow it they could have had a ship trail it at a distance close to its max sensor range.

And isn’t it Xindi, not Xinti?

  1. don't you think their passiv sensors reach farther out than whatever they used to shut down the saratoga which means they can at every moment turn around and get at that ship shadowing them?
  2. am i going to get thrown into the brig for misspelling them?

The Probe paid no attention to the starships at all. I have no idea what your point is.

I just playing into the lore plus this event was hundred plus years before DS9... So maybe section 31 could not identify xiniti species with a tricorder at that time...

You are making my point that Star Fleet better worry once that probe/drone informs its home world about the dire straights whales are in on earth. Think, once they compare their earlier scans of earth with the scans from the probe/drone they will see a planet had a mass extinction event with so many animals species missing from the early scans. They may conclude humans are an invasive species that must be stamp out. They may conclude humans must be wiped out throughout the galaxy. So Star Fleet and UFP fans be worried real worried... :techman:

I always felt if the Aztecs had met the conquistadors on the beach things may have been different...
