Avengers plot rumour - possible spoilers

If it has Thor frying spaceships with thunder and Iron Man redirecting a crashing spaceship, I am sold.

i wanna see Cap drop a tank on the Hulk and Hulk ripping apart the Chitauri leader and eating him.

NAKED GUY TALK TOO MUCH!

If they use 'whaddya think this letter on my head stands for? FRANCE?!?!?!?!!' I'll be real chuffed.

Yep. I'm sure glad Iron Man 3 won't have the Mandarin's rings. Clearly, no one will accept aliens or alien tech in a superhero movie, especially one involving Iron Man. Yessir.

AvengerNews, whatever that is, is reporting that Josh Holloway (Lost) has been approached for a role in The Avengers.

If I remember right, the Skrulls first appeared in an issue of Fantastic Four; and that makes them derivative of the Fantastic Four license. As such, the Skrull physical appearance and name would belong to Fox unless some kind of arrangement was made.

Of course, this doesn't stop Marvel Studios from using an alien shape shifter invasion as part of The Avengers movie plot; they just couldn't call them Skrull.

"Beware the Dire Wraiths!"

Only if the movie ends with ROM saving the day

I heard rumours quite some time ago (maybe as much as 2 years ago) that he was to take the lead in a proposed film adaptation of Thor.

Isn't Hank Pym going to Nathan Fillion, or is that still unconfirmed?

I could see Holloway as Hawkeye. He works as a blonde, obviously, and can convey the kind of roughness one might expect from a an ex-con (if they go for Hawkeye's original backstory... although Ultimate Hawkeye, though not a reformed crook, was still pretty rough around the edges.)

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I'm with you^ I was still of the understanding Fillion was to be Pym. Was that just rumor, it didn't seem it was being reported that way a few weeks ago.

I know its been put under 'Avengers' news but the article I saw said 'a' Marvel film, not Avengers specifically. I could see him as Iron Fist despite the years we've been hearing about Ray Park in the role.

Comic Book Movie are claiming the Skrulls will be the antagonists in The Avengers
Too bad, if so. I'd rather the Fantastic Four deal with that sort of thing.

Oh, Josh is ideal Hawkeye material. Just the sort of guy to challenge the leader man as Clint did back in the day and Sawyer did on Lost.

"Captain America -- big deal! I'll be in charge of this team someday, Methusalah, and then you'll really see some Avengin'!"

Only drawback to that characterization is his age. At 40, I'd expect Hawkeye to be well past his young hothead phase and more the guy who led Avengers West. With the right training and modern cosmetics, I suppose Josh might still pull off the younger, brasher Hawkeye for a single movie and then they could move events ahead some years for sequels to accommodate.

But he'd also be great in an older veteran role like Dugan, backing up Nick Fury. Doctor Pym would be an interesting change of pace for him. I'm sure he'll rock whichever role he's up for here.

^Off topic, but I think it's interesting that James played Ronald Reagan in a tv miniseries and a George W Bush-esque Governor in The West Wing, while Josh played W in the movie of that name.

HitFix.com is reporting that Marvel is going to hire an unknown to play Bruce Banner, and this was their decision -- despite Norton wanting to come back, despite him having met with Whedon and being excited about the project. Speculation is Marvel's lowball business tactics has something to do with it.
