Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Sigh. Why do you continue to rant if you obviously don't like Joss. You've made your point quite clear in the thread on multiple occasions. It's obvious that it won't change...maybe you'll see the film and change your mind but what is the point of continuing to rant about something you seem to hate right now?

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

It's not Whedon I hate (I do think he is not as good as he thinks he is).
It's not even that I'll hate this film.

But I just can't wait until films go back to telling stories.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Films do tell stories...and fairly well at times as well. Maybe you aren't watching the right films that do this.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I don't, I thought the other Marvel movie all told some pretty damn good stories myself. Ok I'll admit, the might not have always been the most original stories, but they were fun, and when it comes to movies that's really all I want.

Where does that come from? I'll admit, I haven't read or watched alot of stuff with him, but I never got the impression that he was that much of an egotist.

Don't bother. On this board if you're not in "gush mode", you're the enemy. You must be positive about everything and anything. Any deviation is not accepted...even if you're reasonable about it.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

The way I see it is people have been going out to see the Marvel movies over the last few years. And they have been going in large numbers.

If you have seen more than one, you've seen that these films have been building up to The Avengers.

If someone has seen more than one Marvel film recently, they will most likely be going to see the Avengers.

So suck or not, Avengers will have a killer opening weekend. After that, the strength of the story will matter. But the film will have made it's tens of millions by the.

Well I guess that delusional rantings surely seem reasonable to the man spouting them.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I haven't seen every film leading up to the Avengers, but from what I cant ell, they are pretty flimsy in terms of story. Nick Fury to the hero of the film; 'We are putting a team of extraordinary people together... you should join." There is so little dramatically, thematically or anything beyond that line in each teaser. Oh, aside from Loki has something that only people familiar with the comics will know WTF it is!"

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Uh...I'm pretty sure there's more to each Movie film that leads to Avengers than Nick Fury walking up to them to say "I'd like you to join the Avengers."

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

there certainly is in Captain America considering Fury doesn't appear until the last... what? three minutes?

oh, and he doesn't interact with Thor at all and Coulson's not trying to recruit him, he doesn't appear in The Incredible Hulk and come on, he only appears in a 3-5 minute post credits cameo in IM1...

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I've just seen Shaft, and there's this scene where Christian Bale walks out of his private jet and gets into his limo, and then Samuel L. Jackson talks to him out of the shadows. That was awesome.

They should merge the Avengers with Batman, I don't care about the DC and Marvel distinction.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

The closest thing to a recruitment in Thor was when Thor told Coulson that he and SHIELD could count him as an ally, but he rushed back to Asgard before they could talk more about it.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

like I said.. it may have disappointing numbers. it may bomb.

It'll bomb as much as The Dark Knight Rises will bomb.

You mean, Batman isn't going to be in The Avengers?

Seriously though, I'm surprised someone out there hasn't done some mash-up parody of scenes from Shaft dubbing over Jackson and Bale's lines with stuff from their comic book counterpart roles.

Wasn't Bale an infant when Shaft came out?

It's about 25-30 seconds, easily clocked on your DVD's counter.

Tony Stark: [arriving home] Evening, JARVIS!
Jarvis: [voice distorted] Welcome home, sir...
[Stark stops as he sees a figure in his living room]
Nick Fury: "I am Iron Man". You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet.
Tony Stark: Who the hell are you?
Nick Fury: Nick Fury. Director of SHIELD.
Tony Stark: Ah.
Nick Fury: I'm here to talk to you about the Avenger Initiative.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Seriously, the only Marvel movie in which build-up/crossover/continuity with Avengers was a little on the gratuitous side was Iron Man 2. Frankly, as much as I like both ScarJo and the Black Widow, all she really added to the movie was some eye-candy and a gratuitous action scene.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Actually Black Widow played a much more significant role than just kicking ass and looking good. 'Tasha was meant to bring Stark out of his funk and help him to realize the hero and leader he can be. Fury's conversation with Tony at the donut shop was just the start of this, it is really Tasha's conversation with Tony later near the end of the film when they're talking about the Avengers Initiative that hits any real cord with him.

I suspect 'Tasha is going to have quite a large role in "Avengers" and seems to have some rather interesting scenes with Bruce Banner.
