2. The events take place in one day. In one day, Thanos collects five stones. Yet, he has been searching for them for decades and, at the minimum, he has been conquering planets for twenty years at the minimum. If the stones were that easy to find, as they were located in one galaxy, why did he not find them sooner?
Don’t know if this ever got a satisfying answer.

Thanos knew where to find most of the Stones but didn’t have a fully functional gauntlet before. With the destruction of Asgard, Nidavellir became vulnerable and Thanos’s job got a lot easier. He went to Nidavellir, forced Eitri to make the gauntlet, and then went about collecting the Stones.

Also, the stones weren't always that easy to find. They were popping up on the grid one by one over the previous movies. And the Soul Stone didn't pop up until right before this movie started (when Thanos interrogated Nebula and found out that Gamora knew where to find it all along).

I'm inclined to think, in addition to Gamora, they'll borrow from the comics and Nebula will also play an important role in taking down Thanos.

That is who I meant, thanks.

Also, wasn't Adam Warlock already mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?

There's also the theory that Thanos didn't make his move yet because of Odin, The Ancient One and Ego, three very powerfull beings (or, in Odin's case, commending a very powerfull army). With them gone, there was a lot less chance of him being stopped.

That is indeed a plausibel theory.

I just saw the movie yesterday, what a great movie!
Everything with the Guardians where great, the their music and humor were good.
I only hoped that Steve Rogers had a bigger part.

And unbelievable that about a third of the people left before the extra scene, everybody should know better by now

Actually it was the first time ever that absolutely no one got up in my showing, and the theatre was packed!

I get that Odin was protecting the Space Stone and Nidavellir, and The Ancient One was protecting the Time Stone (and possibly the Mind Stone, which was also on Earth), but what does Ego have to do with anything?

He's alive. I doubt he's gonna take the chance that he's among the half that Thanos will wipe out. ;)

And then Ego pretty much had his own universal genocide scheme going on.
Actually where was Thanos when Ego was minutes away from killing all life that wasn‘t him.

The mind stone was Loki's sceptre. It already belonged to Thanos until Loki lost it to the Avengers.

First part: Well yeah, but Ego had a 100% chance of living under his own scheme. Under Thanos's , he might have died.
Second part: Well yeah, that's a good point.

Watched the film a third time today and I still love every minute of it. A few things stood out to me:

Gamora makes Peter promise to kill her in order to prevent Thanos from discovering the Soul Stone...only to die so Thanos could get the Soul Stone. That's some fucked up shit.

While talking about the nature of the Mind Stone in Scotland, Wanda notes she only feels Vision in it. He in turn tells her when she's forced to destroy the Mind Stone, thus killing him, that she couldn't hurt him and he only feels her.

I meant to bring this up after the last two times I watched the film, but Thanos tells Gamora on Vormir that he once ignored his destiny but he won't this time. Is this a reference to the comics, and if so, to what specifically? Or was he just musing about taking so long to wipe out half the universe?

I noticed during the second viewing but wasn't sure about what I saw, but this time around I'm certain: We briefly glimpse the Thanos scarecrow on the bottom right hand corner of the screen as Thanos walks outside of his house.

My guess is that he’s referring to the fate of Titan. He tried to convince the authorities to adopt his plan, failed to do so, and then “ignored his destiny” by failing to take matters into his own hands.

Although Infinity War earned a healthy $28.7 million on its fourth weekend, it actually made less than Black Panther on its fourth ($40.8 million). While Infinity War has earned more money overall domestically than Black Panther (thanks to the huge opening weekend) at this point (by $33.3 million), I'm beginning to think Black Panther will win out in the end, at least in domestic gross.

Ah, that would make the most sense. Thanks.

I agree. Considering Deadpool 2 and the upcoming movies in the next month (Solo, Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World 2) I'm not sure how much longer A:IW will remain on people's radar.

As an aside, it was a bit difficult to find the 4K blu-ray release of Black Panther (yes I still buy physical media). The store shelves at the 3 Targets I went to were pretty well picked over in regard to 4K blu-ray and 1080p blu-ray. Even though the BP just recently exited theaters and all the summer blockbusters currently in theaters, BP still seems to be going strong.
