yeah, no. If Superman couldn't do it to Darkseid; what makes you think he could do it to Thanos (Who Jim Starlin admits was based off Darkseid.)?

Metron.
Not Darkseid.
Metron.
No, he's Darksied:

Back in 1973, Jim Starlin was given the chance to write an issue of Iron Man for Marvel, and he decided that was as good an opportunity as any to introduce a set of characters he'd come up with during a college psychology course. The characters were based on two competing mental concepts that should be familiar to anyone who caught their appearance on The Venture Brothers, and while Eros (named for the sex drive) would take up the name "Starfox" and go on to become the creepiest Avenger, his brother Thanos (shortened from "Thanatos," the self-destructive "death drive") entered the Marvel Universe as a universe-conquering bad guy who bore a striking resemblance to DC's Darkseid, created by Jack Kirby three years earlier.

Yeah, he never faced almost certain death when he took that nuke into the hole in space. No self-sacrifice there, not for a second. :techman:

...and you missed how after that film, Stark was still trying to trick/tech his way out of situations. In Age of Ultron, there's this exchange:

Cap: "Whatya got, Stark?"
Iron Man: "Nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city, That'll keep it from impacting the surface, if you guys can get clear."
Cap: "I asked for a solution, not an escape plan."

That's Stark still not accepting that death is a likely possibility--that there's not a way out. Whether it's his life, or others, he did not learn from the example in front of him with Cap's reply.

Stark’s death seems like the only way for his story to end.

What else is there? Retiring from superheroics to focus on his family? He’s done that before, but it didn’t stick. The next time there’s a crisis and Iron Man is needed, he’ll be there. He can’t not. It’s who he is. He’s Iron Man until he dies.

Agreed, but it would only seen natural as the end of the first ten years of MCU for Stark to die finally knowing what sacrifice means.

There were plenty of situations where the Doctor was willing to sacrifice his life over sacrificing his principles.
Parting of the ways comes to mind..

"Planet of the Spiders" is another where the Doctor pretty much knew the end was near, and faced what was going to be certain death . Someone using the Doctor missed the point of the character seen over and again.

Or...the flippancy is just his coping mechanism. You obviously just want Stark to be some generic no-nonsense pristine do-gooder instead of someone with a personality.

No, just that shock happens just as often (if not more) than hamming it up.

Of course, you're just being a whiner over them announcing that there will be future films. So you're repaying their generosity with petulance, as usual.

So yeah, instead of appreciating that they're nice enough to tell us about the future you just complain more. As usual.

So yeah, you're ungrateful that the MCU is nice enough to tell us about future movies ahead of time.

You must hate Dr Who, been around 50 years and he's never truly died yet.

@Anwar , please ... do us both a favor and back off ? It's clear you two don't get along very well at all, but such consistent types of response do not help your case, instead making you seem unwilling to engage in discussion.

If I were involved with Tony Stark, I'd be "moany" as well.

Why is Captain Marvel needed to battle Thanos in "Avengers 4", when Thor (with his axe) is still alive?
Because she is better. She will be the most betterest of them all.
