I mean, just with Guardians being in the picture, it turns out that Earth actually exists in a kind of Wars/Trek type universe with a space-faring culture and we're just this Prime Directived backwater allowed to exist in a state of relative barbarism. But how long can such a thing last? Right from the get-go you knew the potential ramifications of this situation were not likely to be explored, as a status quo Earth is typically relied upon by superhero-genre storytelling.

Earth was one of the worlds under Asgard's protection in the past. That's why there were no big invasions (Captain Marvel stopped things in her movie before they got big enough for Asgard to notice) until the Chitauri in Avengers 1 (and Asgard's Bifrost was damaged so all they could send was Thor).

Asgard was destroyed, so the protection is gone. But the Snap crippled everyone in the Universe so no one tried anything...

...But now they're all restored and Asgard is still gone. So now is the time for the Cosmic stuff.

I remember an interview with the Russo brothers they described that scene. They said it never quite worked to their satisfaction and made test screen viewers wonder why Thanos's forces didn't just concentrate all their fire on that one spot where all their most powerful heroes had huddled together for an extended period of time.

I'm glad to see the scene, but I think I like the way those story beats played out in the final version better.

Deleted scene with Tony Stark and a teenage Morgan Stark inside the soul gem right after he snapped his fingers. The Russo Brothers spoke of this scene as well. It also confused test audiences a little bit and made the ending of the movie drag on just a little too long for their tastes.

Watched it again over the weekend. Gotta say Sam contacting Cap and all the heroes showing up to kick some ass, gave me the feels. Right up there with all the toons showing up en masse at the end of Roger Rabbit.

And if you click on the Blocked message - it take you directly to the Disney+m Youtube channel :rommie:
(Yep, methinks Disney has had it's ducks in a row and Youtube has a special scanning macro that auto finds and blocks any Disney related stuff.
Ack - edited to add; Nope I was wrong it takes you to the main Youtube page (Said page just had a big 'Disney+ Streaming ad when I hit it on said click.)

That's a good comparison. I love the "On your left" from when the two of them first met.

I just got on the Disney+ page for Endgame and I don't see the scene with Tony and Morgan.
