Avengers 2 News, Rumors, Etc. Pictures until release...

I'm thrilled to hear Cheadle's Rhodey'll be joining in on the action. I hope he gets some screen time with Fury, maybe even to butt heads over SHIELD vs. US military jurisidiction concerns.

If they're going with another WWII villain, wouldn't Baron Zemo make more sense? His whole generational thing would be more workable.

I'd love to have an action opener against a villain seperate from the main plot. I think all comic book movies should do that. Why should Spider-Man be shown fighting random bank robbers when he could be fighting the Shocker? We don't need to see his origin or who he is, he's just a funny guy in a suit with powers.

You mean like the pre-credits sequence from Goldfinger or Thunderball? They had nothing to do with the main story but were great little scenes to get the ball rolling.

Yeah, I could see that working quite well actually. With the added bonus that it would set things up for this to be the main bad guy some time later in the series. You wouldn't have to use him, but you could.

They might be specifically setting him up for Agents of SHIELD. Over there in the show's thread, everyone's "Hydra this, Hydra that, Hydra-Hydra-HYDRA!" Here, everyone's like, "Baron Strucker? Ewwwwwwwww......."

I actually agree. I long advocated The Rhino as a perfect "suddenly there" opener villain. It was not to be. :(

Looks like Eve Plumb's still working, so why not? They could cast Maureen McCormick as her arch-nemesis....

Thomas Kretschmann, who plays Abraham van Helsing on NBC's Dracula, has signed on for a major villain role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Actually,
it's my understanding that it's a minor villain role, but that's ok. :p

I'm still curious if and when Hydra is going to be established as still being around or if they're going to remove the Hydra connection.

BTW, anyone think maybe SHIELD creates Ultron? Since they can't have Ant-Man do it, it'll at least fit the idea of someone well-meaning but over their heads creating him. Sort of a SHIELD hubris type thing.

My guess is that Tony (either on his own, or with SHIELD help) builds Ultron as his "Replacement" (if he decides to remain retired on the wake of Iron Man 3) and something goes wrong with his creation.

Yeah, I think that's certainly a possibility. However, there are two reasons I disfavor it. One, the first Avenger ended up being very Stark-centric, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to mix things up. Second, you know Stark is essentially well-meaning. His creation of Ultron doesn't have the same connotations that Pym has. Pym's an asshole. He built Ultron for assholic reasons. It backfired and blew up in his face. I certainly think they could do interesting things with Stark creating Ultron, but it won't have that same quality.
