Avengers 2 News, Rumors, Etc. Pictures until release...

Whedon implies Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to Avengers 2!

“I’ve done enough shows and movies to be comfortable with that. You do come to a point where we all agree. ‘Okay. Oh, I’ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book; a brother-sister act. They’re in the movie. That’s exciting.’ You know, you lock certain things in”

Are there any other brother/sister acts beside the obvious Avengers connection of Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch?

I tried to think of one but not coming up with anything. Just in case this a red herring.

Aurora and Northstar
The Invisible Woman and the Human Torch
Sif and Hiemdall

But in all honesty it's probably Wanda and Pietro.

Not really liking this idea. Wanda and Pietro are the children of Magneto, and are themselves mutants. That's part of the core of their characters, it's who they are. Obviously they can't have any of that in the movie, so the characters would have to be drastically altered to fit them in.

They did something similar with Juggernaut in X3. They made him a mutant (yeah, I know he is in Ultimate, but not traditionally), and it seemed to ignore his relationship with Xavier.

agreed. if they are gonna bring in some more characters, I'd much rather see someone like Vision, and eventually Ant-Man and Wasp.

You can let it be known they are mutants without actually using the word mutant.

I was wondering the same thing. It does seem weird that they would be able to use mutants in a non-X-Men movie.
I would think this would be kind of an or nothing kind of thing.

I trust there were some heavy negotiations over which properties contained which characters. There are more than a few (especially vllains) who don't necessarily belong to any of them, and others who have changed affiliations over the years, teamed up, gone solo, become villains to other heroes, etc.

I remember there was an interview not long after Avengers came out and they said they had permission to use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch as long as they didn't refer to them being mutants or their relationship with Magneto. Ah I found it, it wasn't even that specific actually.

Kevin Feige said:

"It's a little complicated," says Kevin Feige when asked about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the above video interview with Hey U Guys at the European premiere of Avengers Assemble earlier today. "If they want to use them in an X-Men movie they could, if we want to use them in an Avengers movie we could."

Therein lay an opportunity for inter-studio crossover. They can use the same actors in both franchises without actually having to refer to each others movies.

Heh, that would be kinda cool. I remember Spiderman wanted to include Iron Man references, but ran out of time. I think they would be better off keeping it vague in the Avengers to avoid too much of a backstory (they could call them a genetic mutant or something like that, but no need to drag Magneto into it). Then they appear in DOFP as Magneto's children and those who see both get the whole backstory.

I think the bigger problem would be convincing the actors to want to work for two different studios.

Yeah, but so is a paycheck for a different movie that might pay more, offer more opportunities to branch out, or just has better hours.

And of course they were already referenced in an entry in Stryker's computer system in X2, and one of the captives in X-Men Origins: Wolverine may be Pietro.

They are not even mentioned by their first names. In this image from X2....

...seen on Stryker's computer, we see a list of known mutants. Near the bottom, you see a listing for "Maximoff (2)". That would imply a familial relationship.

Truth is, there are A LOT of neat Easter Eggs on that screen. Sadly, this image isn't the clearest in the world.

According to the Marvel Movie Wiki, this character seen in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is Pietro, although I don't know if that's "official". I don't think he is listed as such in the credits, and the wiki doesn't even know the name of the actor. However, his appearance and powers match Pietro, so I guess YMMV.
