"Avatar" Sequels Delayed...does anybody care?

I don't mind the message of the human alien invader, but at least make the story consistent within itself. Humans want the antigravity macguffinite. Good, okay. But it is literally floating in the sky in rockbergs. Getting it should be as easy as fishing with a net in a swimming pool. And if the nearest deposit of macguffinite is under The Big Sacred Tree, why is that not a rockberg? If macguffunite has nothing to do with rockbergs, then WTF is going on? If the acquisition of macguffunite requires the slaughter of Blue Catpeople, then it should be scarce, and only under The Big Sacred Tree. No rockbergs, or only one rockberg that the tree is on. A small fix and it shapes up to be a better movie with unquestionable stakes.
I don't recall it ever being stated in the movie that the unobtainium had antigravity properties. I also don't recall it ever being stated that the mineral was the reason the floating mountains floated. It wasn't "required" that the Navi die in order to mine unobtainium, but in order to extract it from under Home Tree, they had to kill Navi. Unobtainium was all over Pandora, but the largest deposit was in the area was underneath Home Tree.

If I'm right, your "contradictions" are maybe just lack of attention on your point.

James Cameron has officially begun production on his four Avatar sequels, which are completely real and not the deranged delusion of an out-of-control egomaniac. According to Deadline Hollywood, James Cameron and his entirely nonimaginary crew got things underway in Manhattan Beach, California, Tuesday, setting in motion a projected four movies with a combined budget of more than $1 billion, to be shot sequentially and in 3-D, and released beginning Dec. 18, 2020.

Eleven years for the first sequel to arrive?! Here's hoping the movie features Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in at least bit parts somewhere. :p

My interest in Avatar was rekindled after finally riding the Flight of Passage ride in Avatar Land. Just walking around the recreation of Pandora at Animal Kingdom reminded me why I liked the first film. Thankfully, we only have a couple of years left to see the sequels.

I get to do that next week! :D

Four sequels? But Pocahontas and John Smith was one story and they pretty much covered it in the first film. ;)

Edgar Rice Burroughs books, which Avatar is inspired by, generally get better and better after the world building one is out of the way and he just focuses on spinning a tale.
I don't know if Cameron is that kind of storyteller though. At least it's a glimmer of hope that they might be good.

Well, the first one is still the most successful film in history. So people like them.

I'm not a huge fan of Winslet, but she is a good actress so her casting is good news.
