Avatar Challenge: Pixelmania!

I feel in a retro mood today, and I am missing my videogames of old, when I used to spend my afternoons at the Arcade.

So this is the theme for this challenge: any game that is a big pixel fest!

I'll start off with a classic:

The first computer game I ever played. (Well, strictly speaking, it was a version of the game for the BBC Micro called Meteors and featured cyan rocks, red flying saucers, and a yellow triangle ship.)

The bullet from the space ship is a pixel. This is all that matters.

You misread me. I like the Asteroids entry (& I'd vote for it!), but the original game was done completely with a vector display - there were no such things as pixels on that machine.

I didn't know that.

The picture I found does have jagged lines which suggests a pixel display. The picture must not be of the original asteroids.

My interpretation of "pixelmania" is this : 2D, a pixel based display, not antialiased, limited number of colours so there are no smooth colour gradients, and with a resolution low enough that we can clearly see individual pixels.
