The extended edition of "Avatar" comes out tomorrow. Thought we'd discuss it.

The poll: Please voted in both catagories, making sure you don't vote twice in the same catagory.

The first catagory (Movie Itself) is to grade the movie byitself (not comparing it to the original theatrical version.)

The second catagory (EE Compared to OE): Is to grade how the Extended Edition compares to the Original Edition. (The one relased in theaters last year and on DVD earlier this year.)

This thread will likely contain spoilers for both the OE and EE movie and I, as the one starting this thread, am not asking anyone to spoiler code any spoilers. The warning is in the Thread's Title.

You may spoiler-code it if you wish out of courtesy.

The movie contains eight more minutes of footage making it just around 2 Hours and 50 minutes long.

The theatrical cut ran too long as it was, I fail to see how making the film even longer could improve it.

They only added like 8 or 9 minutes to it. A movie being just shy of three hours long, I don't think is too bad.

From what I understand, the EE will include a Na'vi sex scene that was considered too funky for the original mainstream audiences. But now that it's already made its money back & then some, why the hell not?

I've no desire to see this in the theater but I am looking forward to getting the ultimate edition DVD or whatever it will be called when it comes out later this winter.

I don't mind long films per se - although a film really does have to justify a >2.5hr runtime - I just felt Avatar ran too long. The film's hook was the spectacle of Pandora, and that was wearing a little thin by the time they got 'round to the biff.
