Avanti Shuttle

LordSarvain

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I saw the concept art for the original TOS shuttle by Thomas Kellogg and decided to give it a try. This is just the first round getting shapes in place, so I know there are a lot of errors in the mesh.

@iguana tonante - LOL, Well I wasn't making a political statement re: the socialist newspaper, I was actually thinking about the car by Studebaker. Tom Kellogg was part of the design team for that car which, if you look at the front end, bears a resemblance to the front of the shuttle.

@RichMerk - thanks!

@B.J. - Yes, the antennae are going in. I still have to figure out what accounts for the little "bump" at the bottom of the original sketch. Unfortunately I can only find the one view from the rear so I guess I'm going to have to make it up. I'm thinking it might either be some component of the landing gear or maybe the warp system. Then again, I wonder if I should even bother with a warp system. On the other hand, why shell out the credits for a shuttle if all you can do is zoom around one star system, and slowly at that? Maybe the warp package will be separate similar to Spock's TMP shuttle. We'll see...

Nice work as usual. The outer wall structure is not quite right, as seen from the back end it has more of a triangular cross-section. Also, the whole outer wall assemble tapers from back to front more, ending up closer to the main "box" structure. Look at how close it is to the glass roof in the sketch compared to your model.

Edit: anyone else think "2 paper airplanes glued to a milk carton", when looking at the drawing? :lol: No, really, I like the design, it's just how I break down the image.
